  Yuga
Treta Yuga is the mental age, mental power is harnessed, men are in power, and inventions dissolve the illusion of time.
In the higher ages (Treta and Satya), writing is unnecessary because people communicate directly by thought; temples are unnecessary because people feel the omnipresence of God; wars are rare but they do occur; one such war is described in the Ramayana.
According to Vedic Cosmologist Patrizia Norelli-Bachelet, the numbers given for the yuga are to be understood as seconds of degrees of arc of precessional movement (precession of the equinoxes).

He lived on in the Dvapara Yuga, having a great duel with Bhishma for Amba's sake (and losing), and he taught Karna how to use the Brahmastra and cursed him when he found out that he was a kshatriya.

Kali-yuga and the Number of Time: a Creative Accounting
Since Yuga (more widely) indicates an Age or Era, it is cognate with Millennium, and in later times came also to mean a era of 1,000 years.
Yuga also means Four, and the extent of previous Ages in a quadruple cycle has been calculated by multiplying 432 by its own digits (4, 3, and 2).
Yuga is a general term for an Age or Era, but its specific association with the number 432 is a result of the 5-fold division of a cycle, and sexagesimal mathematics.

Of these four yugas, our present racial period is the fourth or kali yuga, often called the "iron age" or the "fl age." It is stated to have commenced at the moment of Krishna's death, usually given as 3,102 years before the Christian era.
It is the following: The four yugas as above outlined refer to what modern theosophical philosophy calls a root-race, although indeed a root-race from its individual beginning to its individual ending is about double the length of the composite yuga above set forth in columnar form.
The racial yugas, however, overlap because each new great race is born at about the middle period of the parent race, although the individual length of any one race is as above stated.

A complete yuga cycle from a high Golden Age of enlightment to a Dark Age and back again is said to be caused by the solar system's motion around a central sun.
In Dvapara Yuga, science flourishes, people experience the spiritual in terms of subtle energies and rational choices, inventions are abundant, particularly those that dissolve the illusion of distance (between people and between things), and power is mostly in the hands of women.

A yuga is a specific "age" or period of time; derived from the verb-root yuj – "to unite." The evolutionary periods through which each of the seven great root-races of our earth passes are known as the yugas: satya yuga (Golden Age), treta yuga (Silver Age), dwapara yuga (Bronze Age), and kali yuga (Iron Age).
The kali yuga, or the Dark Age, is the yuga in which only one part of the Truth prevails, because materiality and ignorance with their evil relations of selfishness and anger and indifference hold sway over human hearts.
Thus will be born the satya yuga of the new race out of the kali yuga of the old, and in the distant future there will be even greater things than in the past.

The four yugas; Krita, Treta, Dwapara (Dvapara), and Kali, are an essential aspect of Hindu existence as they represent the cycle of degeneration and regeneration of humanity from an age of perfect harmony and absolute virtue, to an age of impiety and virtually no virtue.
The Kali yuga is the final of the four ages and morally speaking, the furthest degenerated.
The entire cycle from the Krita yuga to the Kali yuga is known as a Mahayuga or Manvatara.

The Devi Bhagavatam: The Sixth Book: Chapter 11
When the Satya Yuga begins and the Kâlî Yuga ends, at this junction time, the virtuous highsouled persons descend from Heaven and are born on this earth; and when the Kâlî begins and the Dvâpara ends, the vicious souls come on the earth again from their hells.
For this reason those that do meritorious acts in the Kâlî Yuga are born as men in the Dvâpara; so the Dvâpara good persons take their births as men in the Tretâ; and the Tretâ good persons are born as men in the Satya Yuga.
Thus, in the Satya Yuga, all the Varnas (castes) were devoted to the worship of the Devî Ambikâ, the Highest S’akti; but in the Tretâ Yuga, the observance of the religion declined a little and in the Dvâpara, it declined very much.

#The characteristic qualities of the lowest phase, "Kali Yuga" include that most people are aware only of the physical aspect of existence, the predominant emphasis of living is material survival, and power is mostly in the hands of men.
The veil between the material and the transcendent realms becomes almost see-through, as the illisuion of different densities of vibration is dissolved.
