Film coated tablet of ranitidine HCl - Patent 4880636
While '440 teaches triacetin as the plasticizer of choice for aqueous film coating of aspirin, it also teaches the use of the alternate plasticizers, such as propylene glycol and polyethylene glycols, which are unsuitable for use with ranitidine HCl because they promote degradation.
Further, the triacetin containing film coating of this invention is essentially unreactive with the active drug, i.e., ranitidine HCl.

A Thermogravimetric Analysis of Non-polymeric Pharmaceutical Plasticizers: Kinetic Analysis, Method Validation, and ...
The activation energy values for vaporization of propylene glycol, diethyl phthalate, triacetin, and glycerin, as deduced from the Arrhenius plots, have been determined to be 55.80, 66.45, 65.12, and 67.54 kJ/mol, respectively.
The enthalpy of vaporization values for diethyl phthalate, triacetin, and glycerin determined in a similar fashion were found to be 68.26, 66.89, and 67.89 kJ/mol, respectively.
Since the vapor pressure curves of diethyl phthalate, triacetin, and glycerin were subjected to nonlinear regression using the statistical package SPSS 10.0 for the determination of the unknown Antoine constants, validation of the entire process is imperative.

Status: For this study, filter rod samples were manufactured from 3.3/44000 tow using (a) triacetin at different target levels (3, 6.5 and 10%), (b) TEGDA at a target level of 6.5%, and (c) no plasticizer (control).
The results of the subjective comparison of the du Maurier K.S. cigarettes with triacetin (6.1%) and TEGDA (7.9%) indicated that the sample with the triacetin plasticizer was subjectively more acceptable than that with TEGDA due mainly to less irritation.

On the basis of the solubility studies, the combination of Labrafil and Triacetin (2:1) was selected as the oil phase.
Since the aim of this study is to develop a transdermal formulation, it is important to determine the solubility of the drug in oils, surfactants, and cosurfactants.
This is because nanoemulsions and NG1 excipients contain permeation enhancers like Labrafil, Triacetin, Tween 80, and Transcutol P. The permeability parameters of different formulations are given in Table 6.

The matrix tablets were partially coated using an aspirator (pipette connected with a vacuum pump holding the tablet from 1 side) on their base and lateral surfaces by carefully dipping them in an organic solution of film-forming polymer.
This was prepared by dissolving 6 g of cellulose acetate (CA) and 33% (wt/wt concentration of CA) of PEG 400 (batch OM1) or Triacetin (batch OM2) as porosigenic agents, in a mixture solvent (methylene chloride:cellosolve:ethyl acetate in 3:1:1 vol/vol) with volume made up to 100 mL.
More pores were observed in coating films with PEG 400 (OM1) as compared with that with Triacetin (OM2), which was possibly a result of more hydrophilic nature of PEG 400 compared with Triacetin.
