Triangle wave - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
A triangle wave is a basic kind of non-sinusoidal waveform named for its triangular shape.
However, the higher harmonics roll off much faster than in a square wave (proportional to the inverse square of the harmonic number as opposed to just the inverse), and so its sound is smoother than a square wave and is nearer to that of a sine wave.
It is possible to approximate a triangle wave with additive synthesis by adding odd harmonics of the fundamental, multiplying every (4n−1)th harmonic by −1 (or changing its phase by π), and rolling off the harmonics by the inverse square of their relative frequency to the fundamental.

Sawtooth wave - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
The sawtooth wave (or saw wave) is a kind of basic non-sinusoidal waveform.
The piecewise linear function y = x - floor(x) is an example of a sawtooth wave with period 1.
A sawtooth wave's sound is harsh and clear and its spectrum contains both even and odd harmonics of the fundamental frequency.

The triangle wave channel has the ability to generate an output triangle wave with a resolution of 4-bits (16 steps), in the range of 27.3 Hz to 55.9 KHz.
The key features this channel has is it's analog triangle wave output, and it's linear counter, which can be set to automatically disable the channel's sound after a certain period of time has gone by.
As a result of the 5-bit triangle step generator, the output triangle wave frequency will be 32 times less than the frequency of the triangle channel's programmable timer is set to generate.

Quadrature Trapezoid VCO: Part 3, Trapezoid Waveform Notes
Both the trapezoid wave and the triangle wave have the same harmonic structure; they both contain only odd harmonics and the amplitude of each harmonic is inversely proportional to the square of the harmonic number.
For the triangle wave, the alternating polarities of the odd harmonics mean that the harmonic peaks reinforce each other at the 90 degree and 270 degree points of the waveform.
For the trapazoid wave, the alternating polarities of the pairs of odd harmonics flatten the peaks of the wavesform.

Wave C must share some common price territory with Wave A. Wave C must be less than twice the longest of Waves A and B, including internal points of Wave C. Wave C must be less the three times the price distance of Wave A. Disallow back to back failures.
Triangles move within two channel lines drawn from Waves A to C, and from Waves B to D. A Triangle is either Contracting or Expanding depending on whether the channel lines are converging or expanding.
Wave E is usually a zigzag family pattern or the same type of Triangle as the larger pattern.

Wave B of the zigzag was a long-term triangle from 1982 to 1996.
(Triangles are considered to be "three's" by definition, as they occur primarily in locations where three's do: waves 4 and B.) In a zigzag, the B wave terminus may not exceed 61.8% of the entire price move of wave A, and this was fulfilled by the top in February 1996.
The apex of gold's B wave triangle from 1982 to 1996 is 37% beyond January 1996.

The United States is currently experiencing a wave of Flying Triangle sightings that may have intensified in the 1990s, especially towards the latter part of the 1990s.
NIDS was abruptly exposed to the Flying Triangle phenomenon on the morning of January 5, 2000 when a police officer called the hotline to report a close encounter with a very large, silent, brightly lit object in western Illinois.
The famous wave of flying boomerang reports in New York and Connecticut was studied by, among others, the distinguished investigators J. Allen Hynek, Philip J Imbrogno and Bob Pratt (7).

In some other circumstances, the Wave 5 is so weak than it even cannot surpass the top of the wave 3, causing a double top at the end of the trend.

The square wave is fed to an integrator consisting of operational amplifier U1A and associated components.
The servo's output is an error term which corresponds to the input waveform's frequency, and is fed to the base of transistor Q1, causing the amplitude of the square wave at Q2's collector to adjust to a value that maintains a voltage at U2A's output equal to the servo's reference value.
This circuit's input is not restricted to square waves; a 5 percent duty-factor rectangular wave input, for example, will result in a sawtooth, as opposed to a triangular output.

 Technical Addendum by Gary Wade
To be specific, it is a piezo-electric transducer driven by a triangle voltage wave form, as illustrated in Figure 9A.
When this triangle voltage wave form is applied to (across) the piezo-electric transducer wafer illustrated in Figure 10 [all figures in the jpg image], the wafer expands and contracts it's thickness as the applied voltage rises and falls.
So the situation we have is this: By very slowly varying the frequency of the triangle voltage wave form from its lowest to its highest value on the function generator, a set of pressure sine waves is generated by the transducer, which effectively covers a frequency rate of many millions of cycles per second.

The input triangle wave is then passed through amplifier A5 to the circuit output unless the FET switch is closed, in which case the output is zero.
The resultant output is a pair of positive and negative steeple-shaped pulses and evolves continuously from a triangle wave to an antisymmetric double-pulse wave with increasing control signal.

For the square wave, each alternate sine wave is added so that peaks line up with troughs (dashed lines at left), while in the triangle wave, peaks line up with peaks and troughs with troughs (dashed lines in middle).
A convenient way to represent a temporal wave form (e.g., a complex sound) is to convert it to its component sine waves (i.e., pure tones), and this involves transforming the X axis from time to frequency.
This is precisely analogous to Figure 5, except the wave form is spatial instead of temporal and the Fourier transform is to spatial frequency instead of temporal frequency.

For a three phase sine wave, it is a simple task to place three sine sources in a schematic and set their phases at 0, 120, and 240 degrees.
For other input waveforms, such as a three phase triangle wave, it is a little more difficult since there is not a phase parameter that is easily set.
Note that the period of the triangle waves is 1ms with a magnitude of 5V just as the parameters specified, and that the three sources have produced a nice 120 degree phase shift between each other.
