An easter egg in the OS allowed changing the titlebar look-and-feel to a few others, and in Dano, this had been extended to be a feature allowing changing of the title bar and scrollbars.
The plain BeOS R5 GUI is commonly cloned, either as the main UI, such as in TriangleOS, or as a theme, such as for GNOME.
BeOS was well respected by a small but loyal community, yet the BeOS user base was disappointed when Be, Inc. failed commercially and no further enhancement of the operating system would be possible.

This is the third release, and as usual, a lot of changes have been made since the previous version (0.0.2).
So if you use a USB port, you'll have to connect it to the PS/2 port to be able to use it.
TriangleOS will load the kernel and after that you should see a percent bar, indicating it's starting.

In VFDBS terms, Qikx is an 'online location', which can be seen as a virtual disk; when working with TriangleOS, users can simply read & write to this location.
The screenshot on the left shows some debug output of the program I wrote to test the TriangleOS kernel without acutally having to copy the kernel disk image.

The second (beta) version of the TriangleOS' web service, now called Qikx, is online now.
Next to providing an online organise/search engine to store, order and share all kinds of content, the goal of the system is to eventually integrate web-storage, publishing and mail interfaces into the OS.

A new storage layer is currently in development for TriangleOS, the VFDBS, which aims at replacing the VFS in order to change the way data is stored and handled through the entire OS (all data is centralised, support for meta-data, journaling for all filesystems, etc.).
The User Interface also needs to change to enable the user to quickly browse through all the information.

 RE: Anyone ever used a 'hobby OS' seriously?
AROS is VERY selective as to hardware, I couldn't get it running on my machine beyond the most basic of functionality, which is booting the kernel.
