Disconnector: A mechanism of a self-loading firearm which disconnects the trigger from the remainder of the mechanism as soon as the shot is fired and does not re-connect it until the firer positively releases the trigger.
A mechanism used with a firearm where one trigger is provided for firing single shots and another trigger for automatic fire.
Mechanism used in automatic or self loading firearm in which the breech block or bolt is not positively locked to the barrel for the entire period of the bullets travel up the bore and until the chamber pressure has dropped.

Firearm - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
The spark used to ignite the gunpowder was no longer generated by a complex wheellock, but rather by a piece of flint set in the jaws of the hammer, which when released by the trigger struck a piece of steel (the frizzen) to create the sparks.
With a matchlock, the powder is ignited with a lit piece of cord, known as a "match", which is rotated forward by the trigger.
Automatic rifles such as the Browning Automatic Rifle or BAR were in common use during the early part of the 20th century while automatic weapons that fired pistol rounds, known as submachine guns, also became popular during this period.

 On Trigger Locks
Some may argue that in fairness, a trigger lock still is better than not locking the gun at all (I'll admit that when applied, it was moderately hard to trigger the firing mechanism).
Trigger locks violate fully half the rules, and are easily shown unsafe by both reasoning and demonstration, even when used as designed.
Moving the lock to test tightness when there is already a post dangerously close to the wrong side of the trigger is a BAD IDEA as one must always assume the gun is loaded, and many people choose to use such a lock on a loaded gun.

To close the mechanism the lever is pushed over to the front, and by releasing the trigger sear by pulling the lanyard the hammer falls and fires the cap of the cartridge case.
The breech mechanism for Q.F. guns firing metallic cartridge cases is worked on similar principles, but is somewhat simpler than that for the de Bange obturation, due principally to the fact of the firing primer being already contained in the cartridge case when this is introduced into the gun.
In the British navy, before tangent sights were used, the plan often adopted for rapidly laying the guns was by sighting, with the notch on the breech ring and the dispart sight, on some part of the masts of the enemys vessel at a height corresponding to the range.

Trigger points cause myofascial pain syndrome, which often coexists with fibromyalgia, but can be treated with massage, physical therapy, or gentle stretching.
Tender points are caused by an unknown mechanism, and their severity is often cyclic.

Wheel-Lock: An early firearm mechanism in which a wheel with serrated edges is wound against the tension of a strong spring and spins against a piece of iron pyrite, sending a shower of sparks into the pan to ignite the charge.
Action:  The mechanism of a firearm directly behind the barrel, by which a gun is loaded, locked, fired, unlocked, extracted and ejected.

eMedicine - Trigger Finger : Article by Satishchandra Kale, MD
Sampson et al concluded that the underlying pathobiologic mechanism for triggering was fibrocartilaginous metaplasia of the pulleys, either due to trauma or disease.
Currently, in an uncomplicated case of trigger digit the first-line therapy is still generally agreed to be injection into the tendon sheath with surgical release of the A1 pulley as second-line treatment.
History of the Procedure: In the past, triggering of the digits was treated by splinting in extension, which caused stiffness and consequently loss of metacarpophalangeal and interphalangeal flexion.

“Caplock” or "Percussion Lock" pistols were so called because the lock system causes a percussion cap to be struck by the hammer when the trigger is pulled.
The Caplock was a great improvement over the flintlock as it was less susceptible to weather-related misfires.
Most (though not all) caplock firearms were loaded from the muzzle of the gun (muzzleloaders).

 BURST FIRE TRIGGER MECHANISM
In one embodiment a second supplemental trigger is connected to the trigger-actuating component above the fingers and is used to rotate the component in one direction for one set of sequential firing, whereupon the first supplemental trigger is used to rotate the component in the opposite direction for a second set of sequential firing.
The fingers during their rotation can contact the gun trigger directly to affect sequential firing of the gun or can sequentially strike an interposed trip lever which is rotatably secured to the guard bar, the trip lever thereupon sequentially striking the gun trigger to effect the firing.
When trigger 34b reaches the rear end of the path of travel, trigger 70 can then be pulled rearwardly to cause another set of 3 shots to be sequentially fired, fingers 36b, 38b and 40b rotating clockwise to effect such firing.

The trigger releases a spring-loaded mechanism that causes a flint to strike against steel, which throws sparks into a priming charge, which in turn ignites the main charge of gunpowder in the barrel.
Historically it was preceded by other mechanisms: the matchlock which was simple, relatively inexpensive, but difficult and hazardous to use; and the wheellock, which was expensive (and was therefore was used only by the wealthy).
In the old days, the word 'lock' applied to mechanical contrivances of any kind, including the lock that was fitted on the doors of houses of wealthy people, and to the lock of a gun.

BBC - Radio 4 Making History - Flintlock guns
The flintlock firing mechanism dates back to the 16th century, although it was another hundred years before it was generally used in infantry muskets, by which time it had been perfected.
The basic action is that the trigger is pulled and a spring causes the striker, the frizzen, to strike the flint which showers sparks on to the gunpowder in the priming pan.
Bill Harriman, firearms specialist on BBC One's Antiques Roadshow, told Making History that a flintlock is a mechanism attached to a firearm which produces its own sparks, doing what the human hand does when it strikes flint across metal to create a spark.
