For various reasons it began to be recognized that triliteralism did not represent the original state of the Hebrew language.
The linguistic forms, then, which, as the first expressions of conceptions, contain the rudiments of the more developed forms, are called "roots"; and it is not too great an assumption to say that such roots form the basis of all real words in the Hebrew language.
The triliteral embodiment of a verbal concept is called "stem" or, more exactly, "basal stem," to distinguish it from other verb-stems (as "niph'al," etc.) which are built upon it.

 Triliteral roots - SourceryForge
The triliteral root system refers to a system of encoding or discovering esoteric meaning within words based on the three main consonants of which the word is primarily made up.
For example, the coronation robe of King Roger II of Sicily (I don't know why there was a sicilian king named Roger either) has as its central motif a palm tree, for which the root is NKHL, which means "a fine essence descending impalpably" (such as baraka or blessedness).
The word for royal palm is tariqat which is the Sufi term for "being on the path." The triliteral root is broken down as follows:

The main concept in the algorithm is to locate the position of the three letters of a possible triliteral root in the pattern and check to see whether the candidate trigram appears in a list of known roots.
Thus, the standard triliteral pattern “f9l” becomes the quadriliteral pattern “f9ll.” Here 9 stands for the letter “ayn” since there is no corresponding letter in English for this letter.
The algorithm for quadriliteral roots shown in Figure 1 is an extension of the triliteral algorithm of Al-Fedaghi and Al-Anzi (1989).

Triliteral signs are signs that represent a combination of three consonants.
It is recommended to learn these signs and their transcription by heart.
The distinction between triliteral signs and ideograms representing words with three root letters is sometimes very vague.

Why would anyone be concerned in 2nd millennium BCE to conform the existing roots to triliteral pattern?
However, as I mentioned, I "could" imagine natural derivation of prefixes, however implausible this process seems to me. What I "cannot" imagine is triliteral root appearing for no reason, and before the letters came into existence.
Besides, you seemed to agree earlier that the roots bear considerable traces of conscious construction.

Yehudah ben David Hayyuj (late 10th cent.) a student of Menachem adapted the Arabic 'triliteral root theory' to Hebrew.
Because the triliteral root theory was so widely accepted Menachem's Machberet, based on the previous assumptions came to be neglected and was not published until 1854.

If any triliteral rooted verb's one of the three root letters is one of alif (hamza, a), waaw (w) or yaa (y) then that is defined as a weak verb.
In this section, we will give examples for the weak verbs whose second letter of the triliteral root is one of alif (a), waaw (w) or yaa (y).
These class of verbs are well known for being troublesome with respect to their conjugation.

 Yah, Yaho, Iao, Yahweh, Jehovah
Yaho is an old Semitic and very mystic name of the supreme deity, while Yah (q.v.) is a later abbreviation which, from containing an abstract ideal, became finally applied to, and connected with, a phallic symbol -- the lingham of creation.
The Phoenicians too had a supreme deity whose name was triliteral, triune, and trinity, and its meanings secret, this was also Iao; and Y-ha-ho was a sacred word in the Egyptian mysteries, which signified "the one eternal and concealed deity." Iah or Yah is also the Egyptian moon god.
Iao (IAO is seen in connection with magic and mysticism among ocult groups) is the Greek form of Yah.

By adding and changing the vowels, prefixes, infixes and suffixes to the root word bases, new words are formed, with each word being related to all the others.
The biliteral base of the word Shabbath stems from two Hebrew letters bv (read from right to left as "shin" and "beta" pronounced as shaba or sheba) and the triliteral base of the word Shabbath stems from three Hebrew letters tbv (shin, beta, thav or shabath).
There are no vowels letters in the Hebrew alphabet except for "aleph" (or the letter "a") hence shaba is also rendered in triliteral form as abv (shin, beta, aleph or shaba).

ONE: by root word i clearly meant triliteral roots that form the majority of Arabic words.
TWO: again, you assumed i consulted a Mullah (or a Mashiukh) but i tend to forgive you because you simply do not no me. "sa-la-ma" is the same trilieral root as "seen-laam-mim" only with the fatha on the letters as i have mentioned.
true, 'sa-la-ma" would also mean "he secured, he escaped, he was safe" etc, but the flow of understanding is still the same meaning that the letters with their fatha only signify that a root word tracing its triliteral root is the same thing except with a fancy way of doing it.

 Qur'an - tScholars.com   (Site not responding. Last check: 2007-10-30)
Every chapter but one is preceded by the words Bismillah ir-Rahman ir-Rahim (listen).
This is most frequently translated "In the Name of God, Most Gracious, Most Merciful." Interestingly, the Arabic words translated as "most gracious" (رحمان)(Rahman) and "most merciful" (رحيم)(Rahim) derive from the same triliteral (RHM; ر ح م), or "mercy." Grammatically, the form of the first word conveys magnitude, while that of the second conveys permanence.
Therefore, the chapter openings may better be translated as "In the name of God, the most merciful, the ever merciful." This double declaration at the start of most chapters suggests the importance of mercy in the Muslim conception of God.
