 | | This leaf looks like a trillium leaf, but because it is very small, and because we are expecting three leaves on a trillium plant (not one), this trillium plant is often overlooked. |
 | | This in turn depends upon a variety of factors, including the amount of light and water the plant receives, the soil it is growing in, and its ability to avoid disease, plant-eating animals, bulldozers, bouquet seekers, and any kind of accidental damage to its plant parts. |
 | | We may have fewer trilliums here than in the past, but they continue to be one of our favorite spring features, due to their delicate beauty and fascinating natural history. |
