		In 1907 BPW mentioned sailing out 7 miles into the harbor of Bombay to see Elephanta, the famed ancient temple, said to be over 350,000 years old constructed from the living rock of the island when Rama was then the King of India.
		Ages ago, a gigantic stone statue of the Trimurthi: Brahma-Vishnu-Shiva, had been carved out of the rock of the island and around it a cavern had been chiseled so that a space of about an acre under stone formed the monument.
		It was for that reason the Portuguese named it Elephanta, because of the huge stone elephants that decorated the approaches to the cave.
