  Trinitite
A product resulting from the blast was an olive-green glass-like substance named "Trinitite" (a nearly pure melted silica with traces of Olivine, Feldspar, and other minerals mixed in the desert sand) which formed when the molten sand solidified upon cooling.
Trinitite is fragile; therefore, pieces larger than 5-6 grams are difficult to obtain and become true collector specimens.
Any one of these Trinitite specimens can be ordered individually for the price shown and mailed in the US for $1.50 in a small box within a padded mailing envelope.

 United Nuclear - RADMAX Shielding
Actual Trinitite contains nuclear fission byproducts that were melted into the sand during the fireball phase of the atomic bomb detonation.
Some Trinitite counterfeiters have even gone so far as to add small amounts of radioactive material into their Trinitite to make it appear genuine.
Your Trinitite sample will be mounted on heavy-stock, high-gloss Kodak photo paper with an atomic detonation image and an informative description of Trinitite and its origin.

 Trinitite
When the first atomic bomb was set off, the "trinity" test, it melted the desert, forming a 600 yard diameter crater with a crust of greenish glass (glass is molten sand).
This glassy material, which has come to be known as trinitite, was quite radioactive at first, but has by now died down to a fairly low level.
It's removal from the site is forbidden, but a good bit is in circulation (though so is a good bit of fake trinitite as well).

The samples we are offering were collected in the late 1940's when it was still permissible to remove material from the blast site (and when it still existed).
The bottom of each piece exhibits the rough texture of the sandy desert surface, which remained untouched by the blast.
While the Trinitite was highly radioactive in 1945 when it was formed, more than fifty years have passed and at the present time, so the radioactivity is virtually zero and it is safe to handle.

 Daily Herald - Trinitite 04-21 0897
Trinitite -- the smooth jade green glass formed by the world's first atomic bomb test 60 years ago at Trinity Site -- wasn't formed the way it has been explained for years, according to two scientists whose hobby is studying sand from anthills.
According to their study of trinitite and little beads of trinitite found in anthills at Trinity Site, the sand was blasted into the air at superheated temperatures.
Hermes and Strickfaden said in their paper they wanted to use the properties of trinitite to back-calculate the yield of the bomb, the temperature and duration of its fireball and the spread of material ejected by the blast.

Trinitite is the name given to the soil that was fused into a glass-like consistency by the heat from the Trinity Test, the world’s first nuclear explosion that took place
Trinitite is measurably radioactive, but not dangerously so.
Needless to say, the activity depends on a variety of factors, e.g., the size of the piece and the distance from ground zero.
