Trinity Field, the eight acre backyard of the parish, was likewise a part of the Goodwin farm, with an interlude in the 1890s as a bicycle racing track.
Trinity's real historic distinction lies not in the name of the elder Upjohn, her ostensible architect -- there are at least two better examples of his Gothic Episcopal churches in our immediate area -- but in this parish's historic place at the very center of the area's historic iron industry.

On the 23rd of October 1851, U.S. Senator John Henderson (Whig-MS), and his wife Louisa, deeded a plot of ground to the Vestry of Trinity Church.
The exact date Senator Henderson established the cemetery is not known; but it predated Trinity Church, because the cemetery is shown existing on the plat filed when the Senator donated the church land on the 23rd of April 1849.
In the deed to the church, Senator Henderson provided that about 17% of the cemetery be "set aside as free ground for the interment of both white and fl."
