 Fifty and still fresh
Pressler said the Beaux Arts Trio's greatest legacy is the establishment of the piano trio as a viable chamber music organization.
"The beautiful part of this trio is that the ego of the single one is sublimated into the achievement of the group," said the renowned pianist, who co-founded the trio in 1955, the same year he began his association with the IU School of Music.
As part of its 50th anniversary celebration being held this year, the trio, which is led by Indiana University Distinguished Professor of Music Menahem Pressler, will perform three concerts during the IU School of Music's annual Summer Music Festival in Bloomington.

There's Just Something About That Man - Christianity Today Magazine
Typically, Bill focuses on the music and Gloria on the lyrics, but there is no clear or consistent division of labor, and the two Gaithers also write songs on their own and with other collaborators.
Gaither had to create an audience for this music, and his skill at doing that is part of what inspires awe from his colleagues.
Donna Hilley, CEO of Sony Music Publishing, says simply, "The Gaithers are to Christian music what the Beatles are to pop music." The influence has come not only through their own songwriting and performing but also through Bill's indefatigable efforts as Christian music's number one promoter.

 Telarc International:
When I think about it, I remember that I began playing the piano—Bach of course—at the age of ten, that is in 1944, the year the American army landed in France with its jeeps, its chewing gum, and its jazz music.
Truth be told, it has always seemed to me that jazz music flows naturally from Bach’s music, so much so that I sometimes wonder if the old master from Leipzig had not, through some inspired intuition, anticipated the rhythms that were to come from the new world.
When I create an arrangement, I decide which part will be played as classical music, which part as jazz music and which pieces are suitable for piano and bass improvisation.

I was confronted with this by Zbigniew Karkowski, a member of the electronically driven, rhythmic, computerized music ensemble Hafler Trio (two people and their electronics).
Computers, playback devices and amplifiers will replace acoustic music, and are already producing the only fresh music: Hafler Trio (profiled last year in Option) itself creates that massive kind of sound.
Yet it is exactly this sort of intellectual approach that Karkowski despises, and why his approach with the Hafler Trio is rhythmic, bombastic and visceral.

On the Cycle of 5ths & 'The 7-Note Solution' Why Are So Many Music Scales Found Only 7 Notes Long?
But the "Trio theory" I use recognizes that notes, as overtones of the Trio of tonic, 4th and 5ths (which are heard most frequently from the earliest music made), have different strengths of being audible to the human ear.
On the other hand, in tonal music, only 7 of the 12 semitones are used, and sometimes, if a "black key" is used, it is aptly called an "accidental" indicating it doesn't normally belong to the scale in use.
Thus the math of the cycle of 5ths is irrelevant to the issue of the origin of music.
