Robert Baron: BERNARD SALOMON: Triumphs of Petrarch; petrarca, trionfi, emblemata
One unexplored facet of the development of the Renaissance emblem in France may be discerned in a series of six emblems made for Petrarch's allegorical cycle, I trionfi, which appeared in the 1547 Lyon edition of Petrarch's vernacular poems published by Jean de Tournes.
Illustrations appearing with Jean Robertet's condensations of the trionfi address themselves to the verses by adapting the medieval formula of Virtues standing upon the crumpled bodies of the Vices, thus establishing a program which shows that each new Petrarchan victory is but a prelude to a coming defeat.
The inclusion of the concluding Latin and French verses of Robertet's compositions alongside the emblems in the edition with the older of the two translations suggests that these emblems were intended to replace the verse argumenta prefacing the early translations.

Rafal T. Prinke - Mantegna's Prints in Tarot History
Mantegna worked for Isabella d'Este of Ferrara who was closely connected with the earliest references to the tarot (trionfi) cards, and even painted two "trionfi" pictures for her: Parnas or the triumph of love and The triumph of virtue.
It is now generally accepted that both early tarot decks and various other "triumph" themes in the early Renaissance Italian art have their common source in triumphal parades of the period and in Petrarch's influencial poem I trionphi.
Another hypothesis connects the tarot images with the hermetic art of memory but it has been overlooked that both of these theories converge in the person of Petrarch who was regarded as the father of that art.

I Trionfi is a courtly love poem in the Troubadour tradition, sharing a number of similarities with Dante's Divine Comedy and La Vita Nuovo.
Many of these are strikingly similar to Tarot designs, so much so that there has been frequent speculation by art historians as to the influence of Tarot on the tradition of Italian engraving art.

Bianca Maria herself was later variously connected to the production of Trionfi cards, the famous Pierpont-Morgan-Bergamo Tarocchi was produced in "her" city, Cremona.
It's likely, that she played in the early production time of Trionfi a (the) maior role.

FAQ#2—What does the name Tarot mean?
Around the turn of the 16th century, two important things happened to carte da trionfi, and to the names it was called.
In conclusion, we see that at some point around the turn of the 16th century, the Italian card game of Trionfi underwent a name change to Tarocchi.
The etymology suggested here, and which is mirrored by a nearly identical name change of a related game, indicates that the name Tarot is the French form of an Italian name, derived from an Arabic root, meaning the game of Discards.
