Triple (baseball) - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
In baseball, a triple is the act of a batter safely reaching third base by striking the ball and getting to third before being made out, without the benefit of a fielder's misplay (see error) or another runner being put out on a fielder's choice.
Because a hit only counts as a triple without a fielding error or a fielder's choice, triples have become exceedingly rare in Major League Baseball.
This combination of power and speed is rare, and combined with the trend for ballparks with smaller outfields has ensured that the career and season statistics for triples is dominated by players from the early history of baseball.

Baseball statistics - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
General managers and baseball scouts study player statistics to decide what players to try to get for their team.
Traditionally, statistics like batting average for batters (the number of hits divided by the number of at bats) and earned run average (approximately the number of runs given up by a pitcher per nine innings) have governed the statistical world of baseball.
Comprehensive, historical baseball statistics were difficult for the average fan to access until 1951, when researcher Hy Turkin published "The Complete Encyclopedia of Baseball".

Baseball Formulas for Offensive Baseball Stats by Baseball Almanac
This is an advanced statistic which requires the complete understanding of on base percentage, slugging average and a park adjustment factor.
Total Baseball has adjusted OBP and SA for the player's home park and League OBP and League SA are the league average for each statistic respectively.
Therefore, the statistic is meant to estimate the impact of base-stealers, which, other than the elite base-stealers, rarely amounts to more than a few runs per year for each team.

 Triple Play Baseball
Baseball just doesn't seem to have the intensity that a sport like hockey or basketball does, yes, there can be tense moments during a baseball game, but the tension can be turned into boredom for many.
Triple Play Baseball is a visual upgrade to an excellent PSOne game, but a downgrade in terms of solid replay value.
Other than that, I won't deny that Triple Play Baseball is a fun game, it does have stupid AI problems, a horrible replay mode and hyperactive homerun batting, but if you set the level of difficulty to the max, you may get a little simulation out of this game.

 Baseball statistics
A seemingly intrinsic part of the game of baseball is the keeping of statistics on the achievements of the players.
It was started by Henry Chadwick in the 19th century who devised the concept of batting average based on his experience of cricket.

 Hit (baseball statistics)
In baseball statistics, a hit (denoted by H) is credited to a batter when he safely reaches first base after batting the ball into fair play, without the benefit of an error or a fielder's choice.
The hit is scored the moment the batter reaches first base safely - if the runner is put out while attempting a double or triple on the same play, he still gets credit for the hit (plus any extra bases reached).
In cases where a ball takes an unusual bounce, and a fielder might have a chance of throwing the runner out but does not, it is at the official scorer's discretion whether the batter is given a hit or instead reached on an error.

Statistics that have been adjusted for a single season are the best stats to use when you are only interested in that one season.
Hitters in the AL since 1973 have a disadvantage in these statistics, since the league average is artificially inflated by the use of the DH and no adjustment is made for that.
