The Triple Nine Society (TNS) is a voluntary association of individuals who have scored at or above the 99.9th percentile on specific IQ tests (or similar) under supervised conditions.
This contrasts with Mensa International, the more well-known and larger society for persons with high IQ which admits those who score at or above the 98th percentile.
TNS also uses high scores on other standardized tests as the basis for admission, including some certain results – albeit on a different scale.

The Triple Nine Society was founded in 1979 as a more democratic alternative to the ISPE by Richard Canty, Ronald Hoeflin, Ronald Penner, Edgar Van Vleck, and Kevin Langdon, who was the driving force.
Whiting's response to the establishment of the Triple Nine Society was immediate: all five members stopped receiving the ISPE journal, Telicom, and they were informed six months later that they had been expelled from the society by a secret "Ethics Committee," whose members' identities are still unknown nearly twenty years later.
The Cleo Society was founded in 1990 by ISPE Director of Admissions Clint Williams as a parody of the High-IQ groups.

Like Mensa, they take high scores on other standardized tests as admission; however TNS still accepts recent results (though on a different scale) whereas Mensa only accepts older results for many common tests such as the SAT, ACT, or GRE.

The MM Society (also known as "Double M") was founded in 1966 as a Mensa's Mensa, with the intent of accepting at the top 50th of the top 50th (one-in-2500) percentile.

This problem may come forth from the use of multiple-choice, and the selection of items by statistical methods, for example, excluding certain items because they are solved by less than a certain percentage of testees, which results in tests that cannot discriminate at high levels.
About people joining societies and taking tests, there seem to be two groups, probably with some overlap: the "mainstream" and the "outsiders." The latter are the ones who initiate things like IQ societies.
Once the "mainstream" is in power, which I think is the case in larger Mensa chapters, the ISPE and Triple Nine in some of its periods, the freedom goes and the censorship comes.

Admission to this society was originally based on one's achievement of a score at or above the 99.997th percentile of the general population (that's 1:30,000) on the Langdon Adult Intelligence Test (LAIT).
As to whether or not you actually "qualify" for admission to a given society, that would depend on whether the test you took is an accepted vehicle of admission to that society and whether your score meets that society's cutoff criteria.
The Triple Nine Society is starting a web site as well and I will pass along the address as soon as we finish up the beta test.
