Triumph Motor Company, then part of The British Leyland Motor Corporation (often abbreviated to simply BL), was a Britain in 1968.
The Triumph TR7 was a sports car manufactured from 1975 to 1981 by the Triumph Motor Company, then part of British Leyland (and subsequently, BL Ltd.), in the United Kingdom.
But many Triumphs of this era were unreliable, including the 2.5 PI with its fuel injection problems, and the poor quality of the TR7 and TR8 sports cars, which killed the marque in the United States.

 Triumph Mayflower, clasic British car of the 50's
The British motor industry was still smarting from the consequences of pre-war punitive duties (the old RAC horsepower tax) that had restricted imports of foreign cars and therefore stifled the requirement for development, other than for the home market.
The Triumph Mayflower was unveiled to invited members of the Technical Press and the Company's Distributors on the 23 October 1949 in a specially decorated section of the main canteen at the Banner Lane factory.
The TMC is run by members for members to ensure the continued existence of the Mayflower on the roads of the World.

In December 1960 the company merged with Leyland Motors.
The last Triumph model was the Acclaim which was launched in 1982 after a joint venture with Japanese company Honda.
The Triumph name disappeared in 1984, when the Acclaim was replaced by the Rover 200, which was also simply a rebadged version of Honda's Civic/Ballade model.

In 1944 the Triumph Motor Company, like many other automobile manufacturers, had been negatively impacted by the World Wars and the Depression, and had fallen into receivership when it was purchased by the Standard Motor Car Company.
