Troll - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
According to a 1908 cyclopedia: "Trolls are Dwarfs of Northern mythology, living in hills or mounds; they are represented as stumpy, misshapen, and humpbacked, inclined to thieving, and fond of carrying off children or substituting one of their own offspring for that of a human mother.
Trolls are one of the most frequent creatures of Scandinavian fairy tales and more common than elves, dwarves, witches and giants (in the fairy tales, there is no clear-cut line between witches and female trolls, nor between male trolls and giants).
The trolls were often considered enemies of the Church and sometimes even in league with the Devil, and could as such be scared or repelled with crucifixes, prayers or the sound of church bells.

Many bands tend to abandon their previously epic, orchestral sound for a harder, catchier tune but, they occasionally lose the firm grasp on the portrayal of their music with dumbed- down speed and energy.
In retrospect, the band is more "in your face" with their sound, I failed to mention it earlier but the epic, almost- Borknagar style clean vocals have been abandoned, and the futuristic techno/ industrial sound spells the new era in Trollheim's Grott.
The name of their last album "Bizarre Troll Technology" may be more suitable to the title of this newest release (as pointed out by Cleric Curst and very much agreed with by myself), but otherwise, there is nothing else to foolishly nit- pick about this album.

Yes sir, half of the band is their poetical talent, although I do admit that mixing New York punk/hardcore with death metal also is not something I encounter on a daily basis as a reviewer.
The only notable difference of this release if compared to the band's later works is an unexpected gust of melody in some of the guitar riffs and harmonies, a less thick and deep growling, and a slower (and thus more apprehensible) average playing speed.

music: Mumiy Troll band   (Site not responding. Last check: 2007-10-21)
For the last few years, Mumiy Troll has been a trendsetter in Russian rock music, but the style they developed last year – a melange of 1970s hard rock borrowed from Queen, Slade and Deep Purple and varieties of British pop – is nothing fundamentally novel.
The band’s lead vocalist, Ilya Lagutenko, became an adherent of British pop music back in the early 1980s, when he performed in the band Boney P, which sang its songs in English.
Although Mumiy Troll’s official date of inception was Oct. 16, 1983, it was only in April 1997 that the band released its debut album, "Morskaya." Since then, the band has successfully performed in Russia and beyond.

In October, 2001, adequacy.org resident fool ‘dmg’ failed to understand any of these facts, and accused Anthrax (the band) of taking on the name “to cash in on bioterrorism.” Further, he claims that the band has a “new CD out hatefully entitled ‘Spreading the Disease’” — but this album was actually released in 1985.
P.S. It fascinates me that adequacy.org’s Terms of Service proclaims “we reserve the right to delete comments deemed inappropriate in tone or factually false.” I can only conclude that this documented quest for truth applies only to comments, but not to staff-written articles.
