Bus 9240 is missing its rollsign and its builder plate and sits in plain view on a parking lot of a factory.
Portions of this bus are now 51 years old, since this bus is one of the batch that were purchased in 1947 and rebuilt in the early 1970s.
It may have been the last trolley bus stored on TTC property, and it is probably the last trolley bus to be found in the City of Toronto.

An Eglinton West trolley bus would have represented a link between the Lansdowne and Eglinton divisions, but plans for this route fell through and the North Toronto routes remained separated from the rest of the system ever since.
The Nortown trolley bus originally had two short-turn loops: wires were put up at the Otter Loop from the old Eglinton bus, and at Eglinton station an eastbound trolley bus could turn back west.
Rush-hour trolley buses operated regularly between these two points; for a time starting in 1956, they were replaced by buses to allow overtaking between the short-turns and the through runs.

Looks can be deceiving- this bus appears to be in fine shape but the entire front end had been completely cannibalized by CARTA (used for parts).
Bus #837 and #838 are still in the original paint sch eme whereas #835 was rehabbed a few years ago with new striping and a wheelchair lift.

This combination trackless trolley, and gas or diesel-electric bus, was called an "all service vehicle".
With an all service vehicle, when the end of the overhead electric wires was reached, the trolley poles could be hooked down to the roof, and a gasoline or diesel engine could be started, which drove a generator, which generated the electricity needed by the electric motors, to run the vehicle.
When the all service vehicle, returned to the part of the route where overhead power lines were available, the trolley poles could be raised, to again collect power from the overhead wire, and save on gasoline or diesel fuel.
