Tromen is a 3978-m-high Argentinian stratovolcano of Holocene age that lies at the northern end of an elongated volcanic massif.
The Pleistocene Volcán Negro del Tromen, with a 5-km-wide caldera, lies immediately north of Tromen, and lava flows from Tromen have partially overtopped the northern caldera rim.
Post-caldera vents at Tromen were constructed inside both calderas and on the flanks of the NE-most caldera.

In the surroundings they are the rivers Aluminé, Malleo, Quilquihue and the spectacular Chimehuín that after to be born in the lake Huechulafquen and to go by the city of Junín de los Andes, it unites with the river Aluminé and they form the river Collón Cura.
It is located 65 kilometers to the northwest of Junín de los Andes by the provincial routes #23 and #60, in the limit with the Republic of Chile, to the south of the lake Tromen and to the north of the lake Paimún.
The lake Tromen is to the north of the volcano Lanín and it has, besides good fishing, beaches of volcanic sand and five arms.

It is necessary to take an international bus (Temuco direction via Junin de Los the Andes, Pucon, Villarica), and to go down in Gendarmeria Tromen (or the border and park guard), in an area called Puerto Canoas, a little before the border.
It is necessary to have a permit to climb the mountain.

There are three international road crossings to Chile: route 62 over the Carirriñe pass, route 60 over the Tromen pass and Río Hua Hum pass along route 48.

Alejandro, Noemi and I got up very early, all data was loaded in the GPS and we started our journey, the trail was not an easy one since this is mountainous terrain with volcanic characteristics; a very rocky road with small streams crossing it at some points.
All the views are spectacular, the Waile (a small skiing center), the 'wind mountain range' and the majestic Tromen volcano.
To reach the confluence you need to cross to nature protected areas, a beautiful 'mallin' (small valley under Waile) and Tomen lake next to the Escorial (solid lava rivers); all this results in a great place to visit, where just the sight of lava remainded us that nature is the only ruler on earth.
