Topic: Tronjheim

Random House : Book extract from Eldest
It was three days since the Varden and dwarves had fought the Urgals for possession of Tronjheim, the mile-high, conical city nestled in the center of Farthen Dûr, but the battlefield was still strewn with carnage.
As Eragon and Saphira rounded Tronjheim, a small group became visible in the pool of lantern light before the timber gate.
He and Saphira stopped by Orik and looked out at the empty land that surrounded Tronjheim, extending to Farthen Dûr's base five miles away in each direction.

Inside the Mountain of Farthen Dûr (means our father in the dwarves language and is also completely hollow but is as tall and as wide as any of the mountains in the Beor mountain range) their capital city Tronjheim (the most magnificent city built by dwarves) lies.
Made of the purest white marble the entire city glows from a distance when light hits it and is also big enough to fit the entire dwarf population in times of crisis (which has happened 3 times in the long dwarf history).
Tronjheim means Helm of Giants in the dwarfs’ language.

Thus, with this difficult block in our knowledge of history, we assume that the Dwarves and the Dragons simply have always been here, long before recorded time, and thus there is no real proof to say which was in Alagaesia first.
Tronjheim is their pride and joy, a testament to their ability to craft stone to their liking.
After time, some of it caved in, so that it was discovered, and then Urgals gathered there to attack the Varden, based in Tronjheim, and finish them once and for all.

Together they made their way through Tronjheim, toward the nearest kitchen.
In the corridors and hallways, people stopped and bowed to them, murmuring, "Argetlam," or "Shadeslayer." Even dwarves made the motions, though not as often.

Driven by the urge to revenge Garrow’s death, Saphria, Eragon, and an old story teller named Brom ward off the evil Empire and make their way to help the Varden and save the kingdom of Alagaesia.
My favorite part of Eragon is when Saphria and Eragon’s friend Arya, the elf, come flying down from the top of Tronjheim (the capital of the Varden).
Then Saphria breathes fire for the first time while Arya broke the giant sapphire at the top of the ceiling to save Eragon’s life.
