True West Magazine - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
True West Magazine (alternate title: True West) is an American magazine that contains glossy articles and covers; reporting about events that happened in the "Old West" era.
True West benefitted from the early television era: as shows such as Bonanza, The Lone Ranger and Little House on the Prairie were aired, many fans became interested in finding out about the lifes of real cowboys and cowgirls.
By 1984, the magazine was being produced from Stillwater, Oklahoma.

True kicked off the publication in December with one of her poems, "A Medium for the Words." In part, the work describes a poet as "the medium for words which are dying to be heard."
True's first step was to evaluate the way other online poetry journals operated, then write plans for her own Web site.
True, who grew up in Skokie, has been writing poetry since she was a teenager, but only recently began trying to get her work published.

True West Magazine Reviews at Shopping.com
True West's policy seems to be that if something is worth an story, it's worth a good story.
The ads in the magazine are aimed at the reader who is interested in legend as well as history-someone that would just as soon see a recreation of a shootout, as read a scholarly book about it.
You won't lose sight of the fact that it is a history magazine, but it's a fun history magazine, and I would recommend it to almost anyone with an interest in the Old West.

St. James Encyclopedia of Pop Culture: True Story Magazine
Sensational, emotional, and controversial, True Story disseminated tales of sex, sin, and redemption that seemingly revealed the ubiquity of modern sexual and social "irregularity." Most educated observers hated the magazine, figuring that it depicted the worst aspect of the "revolution in manners and morals" that occurred in the 1920s.
True Story not only revealed and popularized the ways in which working-class youth flouted convention; it argued that its working-class antihero/ines were the success stories of modern America.
Although the transformation of the magazine into a women's romance magazine proved an effective survival strategy, the moment at which True Story was most vital, most alive, was undoubtedly during that time in the 1920s when Macfadden's confessional stories seemed to herald (terrifyingly and excitingly) the dawn of a raunchy modern American moment.

The front cover of the magazine is always eye catching and inside the editors always seem to try to use their own pictures rather than those supplied by manufactures.
The magazine is very well written although its fair to say some of the reviews can seem the same and it doesn't have the humour found in Top Gear magazine.
And finally, the magazines also runs a fleet of 'long termers' cars which the writers run over a period of 6-12 months and are regularly commented on, these are often witty and provide a good incite into how new cars perform over lengthy periods of time.

The Canadian True Crime Magazine of the 1940s   (Site not responding. Last check: 2007-10-21)
In 1940, to halt the flow of Canadian currency to the United States, the Canadian government banned the importation of certain classes of magazines from the U.S. (See trade press coverage, reproduced below.) In the wake of these moves, Toronto-based publishers moved in to replace imported titles with magazines of their own.
These magazines are part of one history of Canadian cultural production, of those moments in which Canadian producers have moved to fill the gaps created by legislation or trade restrictions.
Then, in the early 1950s, headlines, datelines and other conventions of tabloid publishing will become more prominent, as the visual languages of the exposé newspaper and magazine displace those inherited from the pulp magazines of the 1920s and 1930s.
