True Romance is an American film released in 1993, directed by Tony Scott and written by Quentin Tarantino and Roger Avary.
True Romance was a breakthrough, of sorts, for Quentin Tarantino, in that the money from the sale of the script enabled Tarantino to direct Reservoir Dogs.
The script for True Romance was Tarantino's first movie and he had hoped to direct himself but couldn't.

Whether True Romance was written before or after Pulp Fiction I'm not sure, but what I do know (well, at least think...) is that True Romance is in many ways topically akin to Pulp Fiction.
Although True Romance could be perceived as one dimensional and wooden, there are sparks of pure brilliance that redeem the film.

"True Romance" aims to be a "Bonnie and Clyde" for the '90s, but its aim isn't true -- it's just "Bonnie and Clyde" for an MTV generation with a short attention span and an even shorter emotional range.
Since both "True Romance" and "Reservoir Dogs" are built on the premise of things going suddenly, terribly wrong, it seems appropriate that things fall apart.
But the central failure of "True Romance" is its inability to bring anything new or fresh to the "young outlaw couple on the run" cliche, regurgitated just a week ago in "Kalifornia" (whose star, Brad Pitt, does a Butt-head-style cameo here).

I cannot ignore the influence Quentin Tarantino's script had over the style of direction in "True Romance".
The scary part is, if Tarantino had directed, it probably would have been even better.

These include a number of mostly superfluous deleted and extended scenes, though the one in which Samuel L Jackson offers his views on the merits of "pussy-eating" is worth catching, as is the "alternate ending", which Tarantino had intended in his script.
This man is a true master at pacing a film and making each individual frame a work of art.
"True Romance" is a brilliant crime drama, and a perfect (if phased) introduction to Tarantino's work, it is probably the most accessible film he's penned.

True Romance is one of the most under rated movies ever.It was written by Qeuntin Taratino(Pulp Fiction,Resvoir Dogs).More than anything this film is a great story which i enjoyed and lots of others that have seen this movie.
True Romance, prusumably because of a lack of advertising, never made that much of an impact at the box office.
Tarantino's snappy screenplay has all the characteristic wisecracks you'd expect, but it's the precious little performances by the likes of Gary Oldman and Christopher Walken that punctuate True Romance with truely golden moments that most blockbuster films lack.
