 The Message
The film is something of a politically correct or stripped down, greatest hits version of early Islamic history, glossing over or completely ignoring certain aspects of Muhammad's life certain to be questioned by non-Muslims (or even Muslims) who may view the film.
For believers this film might be inspiring and heartening through its emotional thrust and dramatic combination of scenery and music, but for others I'm afraid it will be no more than a nice period piece and costume drama that could just as well have been titled "The invisible holy man versus the hysterical evil woman".

MSU News -- Films of '60s sent movies in new direction, MSU's Monaco says
"The Hollywood studio system, which began its decline in 1948 when the big Hollywood companies lost a federal anti-trust case, unraveled during the 1960s," Monaco said.
However, Paul Monaco, professor in Montana State University's Department of Media and Theatre Arts and author of "The History of American Cinema: The Sixties, 1960-1969" (Scribner's) says the films of the era are most notable to film historians for something else.

Alfred Hitchcock's Psycho: A Look at its Impact on the FIlm Industry
Virtually every aspect of film narrative that the audience had come to accept as normal was overthrown; just as Norman violated Marion with his knife as she stood naked and vulnerable in the shower, Hitchcock violated the security of the viewer and the trust they had put in the cinema.
Films were judged according to the critical and aesthetic standards of critics, and to deter from that was to threaten the status quo and put the critics on their guard (Kapsis 7).
"Psycho's emphasis on the breakdown of the practices and discourses that anchored...the construction of gendered identity in the fifties is surprising, for it exactly reverses the focus of (his previous film) North by Northwest" (Corber 191).

 Entrapment (1999)
Half of the film supposedly hangs on whether she can trust Connery but when we don’t even know whether she is who she claims to be, it’s hard to really care either way.
Despite being the film’s selling point, the on-screen sex appeal is entirely limited to a cuddle between the leads and whatever titillation the sight of watching Zeta-Jones doing acrobatics in a catsuit may hold.
Maybe in awareness of the potential ludicrousness of a forty year age gap in the romance between Connery and Zeta-Jones, the film is in actuality a complete cheat on everything its marketing machine tries to sell it as.

The films which Polanski made after the Chinatown and Le Locataire follow a trajectory of going from more expressionistic aesthetics towards a more realistic one;[13] Death and the Maiden (1994) is a film that revisits the issue of the victim's double vision and crafts its own unique response to it.
The film opens with a quick close-up of a hand bowing a cello, followed by a long shot of a string quartet playing Schubert's "Death and the Maiden;" the film ends with the long take of the same long shot of the string quartet's performance, this time allowing the performance to proceed to its end.

This is a familiar theme throughout many of Hitchcocks films, a man framed for something he didnt do,but cannot go to the police,as he is not sure he will be believed, and he cant trust them, so then tries to clear his name before he is caught.
The film was shot in 1942, just about the time when the USA entered the WW2,so with that in mind and put in context this is a very interesting film with historical hindsight.
It is not the finest Hitch film ever made, but is quite linear and easy to understand, good guys and bad guys, and entertaining to the end nontheless, as in many Hitchcock films, you arent really sure until the final credits roll that you are sure of the outcome.
