Island Line (MTR) - Encyclopedia, History, Geography and Biography
The Island Line is the MTR line that resembles the deep-level lines of the London Underground the most, as many stations along this line are rather deep underground.
A once unique feature of this line, as newer MTR stations such as those on the Tseung Kwan O Line and Lam Tin Station also have this feature, is that all but two of the stations along the route have their station names written in Chinese calligraphy as part of the stations' decor.
Additionally, many underground stations of the Island Line (all except Central and Admiralty (important interchange stations), Shau Kei Wan and Tai Koo) have curved walls at platform level, which is not a feature of the other MTR lines, but is a feature of the London Underground.
