Cleveland Bridge was the lead contractor, in the international joint venture, for construction of the bridge superstructure with two 1.1m diameter cables and the continuous steel deck weighing over 30 tonnes/metre.
From Tsing Ma Bridge the Cleveland Bridge team moved on to build the longest span bridge in China, the Jiangyin Yangtze River Bridge — at 1385m it is 8m greater than Tsing Ma.

The Tsing Ma Bridge, which spans 1377m across the busy Ma Wan Channel, is the second longest bridge in the world after the Humber Bridge in Britain.
The Tsing Ma Bridge was designed to carry two three-lane carriageways on the upper deck and two railway tracks on the lower deck.
The deck of the Tsing Ma bridge is pin-jointed to the reinforced concrete structure of the Ma Wan viaduct at one end and rests on a sliding joint which also acts as the expansion joint at the other end of Tsing Yi.
