There were 11 trampers leaving the meeting point at the Tsing Yi MTR station, but when we actually found the bus two lucky latecomers caught up with us.
from Lantau and Lamma with Hong Kong Island dominating the south to the masses of concrete of Kowloon and the sprawling cranes of the container terminals.
The progress on the newly reclaimed area on Tsing Yi with Container terminal 9 under construction is amazing, while at a distance in the west the huge construction of Disneyland at Penny's Bay left us wondering how much more of the harbor will be filled in the future.

Continuing to the south and down to the Tsing Yi Road west we follow the nature trail.
If the weather is good enough and we still have enough energy and water we can attempt the South side of the island, where at 334 meters the challenge of the top of Tsing Yi waits for us.
This part on the northern side of Tsing Yi was the warm up for the second part when we approached the steep flight of stairs on the southern side.

 Tsingma bridges
Erection of temporary footbridges, or catwalks, between the two towers of Tsing Ma Bridge is expected to be completed in June 1994, enabling spinning of the main cables to begin in July 1994.
The main cables will be retained in steel saddles at th top of each tower to accommodate the cable geometry and to transfer their loads to the towers.
The bridge deck, formed by 96 fabricated steel sections measuring some 40m wide by 7.3m deep, is supported at intervals of 18m throughout is length by suspenders connected to the main cables.
