Khecheopalri lake is another well known lake that lies on a bifurcation of the route between Gyalshing and Yuksom.
The lake remains frozen during the winter months up to mid-May. Between May and August it is possible to see a variety of flowers in blooms, including the rhododendrons, various species of primulas, blue and yellow poppies, irises etc. It is also an ideal habitat for the red panda and various species of birds.

With an average depth of 50 ft, this spectacular lake is situated 37 km north east from Gangtok at an altitude of 3,752 metres on the Gangtok - Nathula highway.

I'm a looking for someone to travel to Tsongmo Lake in Sikkim and the northern areas of Singhik, Chungthan, and Longchang and Phodong Monastery.
It was a beautiful to see the entire lake frozen(check out the pics in my Flickr/Picasa).
Its a one day tour and the cab operators charge around 200-300INR.You might have to chip in a word with the operator a day or two in advance so that he takes the required permissions.I presume,you dont have to bother much about the permissions.
