 Help reaches homeless Nigerian flood victims
Two days of torrential rain at the start of the week caused the Tiga and Challawa dams to overflow and the Kano River to burst its banks, causing flash flooding that wrecked homes and forced thousands to seek refuge in schools and markets.
He said the floods were beginning to subside as relief aid arrived for the inhabitants of the 25 villages south-east of Kano city.
Tudun Wada said two people were confirmed dead as a result of the flooding.
