 | | The first Great River Tug took place in 1987 with ten 20-member tug teams pulling with all of their strength on the 2,400 foot, 680 pound rope that spans the Mississippi River between Port Byron, Illinois and LeClaire, Iowa. |
 | | LeClaire won the Tug Fest in 1998 and received the "Iowa Event of the Year" Award for being one of the most outstanding festivals in the State of Iowa. |
