Tulloch won at distances from 5 furlongs (1000 m) to 2 miles (3200 m) and established Australian records at 10 furlongs (1960 Cox Plate) and 12 furlongs (1957 Caulfield Cup), and took 2 seconds off Phar Lap's 28 year old record for the AJC Derby.
Tulloch was one of the five inaugural horse inductees into the Australian Racing Hall of Fame, alongside the other turf immortals Carbine, Phar Lap, Bernborough and Kingston Town.
Tulloch started 6/4 favourite in a field of 17, carrying 7 stone 8 pounds (approx 48 kg) Tulloch won in 2:26.9, which at the time was the fastest time in the world for a mile and a half on turf and the third fastest overall.

Tulloch Castle, the ancestral home of the Chiefs of Clan Davidson, is located on the outskirts of Dingwall, Scotland, in the county of Ross and Cromarty, or Ross-shire.
The first Bayne of Tulloch was Duncan, who received a charter from King James V in 1541 giving him the lands of Tuich or Oulch (later Tulloch).
His daughter inherited Tulloch Castle and her son, Colonel Angus Vickers, of Vickers Aircraft, was the last owner of Tulloch lands before they were given to the Highland Regional Council just a few years ago.

Young Tulloch was faced with quite a challenge as Central St. James was among the constituencies specially carved out by the "Master of gerrymandering" Archie Singham during the 1966-67 constituencies (boundaries) alignment to ensure JLP victory for at least two consecutive terms.
To the surprise of many, JLP dominance in Central St. James was short-lived as Tulloch defeated the JLP's Tony Hart, a leading businessman in Montego Bay, by a comfortable majority of 2,255 in the February 29, 1972 General Election.
The story is told of young Tulloch being visited by two very extreme members of the PNP left wing on a Saturday morning in September 1977 on the day of the Vice Presidential election.

Tulloch and his friend James J. Parker are accused by New Hampshire authorities of stabbing two Dartmouth professors, Half and Susanne Zantop, to death in their Etna, N.H. home, Jan. 27.
The indictments allege that Tulloch, "acting in concert with, and aided by, James P., purposely caused the death" of the Zantops.
Tulloch’s public defender attorney, Richard Guerriero, advised the judge at Tuesday’s arraignment that he would not seek bail for his client at this time.
