GOOD ROUTE: The mascot of the Tulsa 66ers, appropriately known as Routie, came down from his home in the rafters during a recent game to watch his team play in a thriller.
The Tulsa 66ers High School Basketball Series began on Saturday, Jan. 19 when the McLain and Booker T. Washington’s girls varsity teams took to the court in the opening duel.
When ask what he hopes to accomplish during his tenure with the 66ers, he says, “I hope to learn as much as possible and gain the experience necessary to lead a successful career as a general manager with the NBA.

TULSA, Okla., December 3 — The Tulsa 66ers bench sparked their second straight come-from-behind victory over the Fayetteville Patriots as they produced 61 of the team's 91 points in a 91-85 win Saturday afternoon.
The leader of the bench was Tulsa guard Desmon Farmer, who was on fire hitting 3-of-5 from behind the arc and leading the 66ers with 22 points.
Tulsa forward Sean Banks, assigned by the New Orleans/Oklahoma City Hornets, and teammate Bernard King scored 10 straight points as Fayetteville went cold starting the second quarter and the game went in to halftime tied at 41.

TULSA, Okla., Dec. 31 -- The Tulsa 66ers rode the back of forward Sean Banks and his game-high 28 points into the New Year by defeating the Arkansas RimRockers 104-88 at the Expo Square Pavilion.
But it was Banks and the Tulsa bench that sparked the 66ers to close out the half on a 19-5 run, in which they held the RimRockers to only two made field goals over the last seven minutes plus.
Tulsa started out the second half as hot as they had ended the first, going on a quick 8-2 run and extending the lead to 56-45 at 9:35 of the third quarter.

TULSA, Okla., Jan. 6 -- In a night of power problems at the Expo Square Pavilion, it was the “willpower” of Tulsa guard Will Conroy that led the Tulsa 66ers to a hard-fought overtime victory against the Arkansas RimRockers with a score of 105-103.
Tulsa forward Ersan Ilyasova, who scored 18 points and 12 rebounds, sparked Tulsa's comeback, hitting back-to-back 20-foot jump shots and a 3-pointer to cut Arkansas’ lead to 81-76 less than three minutes into the final period.
Conroy and Tucker continued to put on a show and the overtime was nip and tuck until the end when Conroy hit a free throw to extend the Tulsa lead to two and the 66ers were able to secure a rebound, running out the clock on a 105-103 victory.

The Tulsa 66ers announced last week they would now be the NBA developmental team for both the Milwaukee Bucks and the Seattle SuperSonics starting in the 2008-09 season.
The marriage of the SuperSonics with the 66ers seems a natural fit considering the Sonics will be moving to Oklahoma City within the next two years.
Of course the move is contingent on the outcome of an ongoing legal battle between the city of Seattle and the new ownership of the Sonics, headed by Oklahoma City businessman Clay Bennett.
