  Tung Chee Hwa
Tung Chee Hwa or officially Tung Chee-hwa (董建華) (born May 29, 1937) took office as the first Chief Executive of the Hong Kong Special administrative region of People's Republic of China in 1997, following the reversion of sovereignty from U.K. to the People's Republic of China.
Born in Shanghai, Tung's family moved to Hong Kong when he was ten and his father (Tung Chao Yung 董浩雲) went on to become a very successful entrepreneur.
Tung won a landslide victory in the election for Chief Executive of the new government as many had expected (the 400 voters of the electoral college were carefully chosen by the Beijing government and cannot be said to have adequately or appropriately represented the people of Hong Kong).

 CNN.com - Stubborn China stuck with HK boss - Jul. 10, 2003
One of the many ironies surrounding Tung, 66, the son of legendary tycoon Tung Chao-Yung, is that from Beijing's perspective, ex-president Jiang Zemin was not exactly off the mark in 1996 when he designated the crew-cut, Shanghai-born businessman as the first SAR supremo.
Tung was made a member of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference in the early 1990s, a sign that he was among a handful of patriotic businessmen being groomed for the post-1997 SAR top job.
In apparently carrying out Beijing's instructions, Tung is keen to enact a law to counter subversion, secession, sedition as well as the "leakage of state secrets" as soon as possible, and in any case, not later than mid-2004.

Yung Po explains obsequiously that my understanding Chinese is conspicuously unequal to the occasion, a fact that at once becomes apparent to the man in blue silk; whereupon he quickly substitutes written words for spoken ones and presents me the paper.
