James Dunn, president of the Tunica County Board of Supervisors, agrees that the gaming industry and the ensuing economic development has made the county much more vibrant and attractive to its own citizens as well as people and companies who are considering relocating to the area.
Today, Tunica County residents are proud of their four-lane roadways, their showcase arena and exposition center, the history museum, plans for the airport and eco-park and all the other expansions now in the works in this thriving county.

The median income for a household in the county was $23,270, and the median income for a family was $25,443.

Tunica is a town in Tunica County, Mississippi, located on the Mississippi River.
Tunica Resorts was originally named Robinsonville, but the name was changed in 2005 to eliminate confusion over the location of the casinos, which have always used the name "Tunica" in reference to their location.
Success of these gaming houses in northern Tunica County came at the expense of the area's first group of casinos in the early 1990s, located just northwest of Tunica proper, in an area known as Mhoon Landing — much of what comprises the current census designated place of North Tunica.

The County defendants further maintain that the plaintiffs have failed to identify a policy or custom of the defendant municipality which proximately caused injury to the plaintiffs, as is required to assert a § 1983 cause of action against a governmental entity.
However, the plaintiffs' complaint alleges that the County defendants failed to properly discipline and control their officers, who were known to be irresponsible in dealing with citizens of the community, and failed to take adequate precautions in hiring, promoting and training its officers.

At its organization on February 9, 1836, DeSoto County stretched from the Tennessee state line on the north to the Panola County line on the south; from the Mississippi River and Tunica County on the west to Marshall County on the east.
