In full, Ke Bawah Duli Yang Maha Mulia Al-Sultan Almu'tasimu Billahi Muhibbudin Tuanku Alhaj Abdul Halim Mu'adzam Shah ibni Almarhum Sultan Badlishah (November 28, 1927-) was the fifth Yang di-Pertuan Agong (roughly equivalent to King) of Malaysia from September 21, 1970 to September 20, 1975 and twenty-eighth Sultan of Kedah since July, 13, 1958.
Born at Istana Anak Bukit, Alor Star as Tunku Abdul Halim, he was the second, but eldest surviving son, of Tunku Badlishah (born 1894; reigned 1943-1958), who later became the 27th Sultan of Kedah.
Tunku Abdul Rahman had felt that he should not serve under a nephew, given strict Malay royal protocol, but agreed to stay on as prime minister for one day of Tuanku Abdul Halim's reign.

TUNKU ABDUL RAHMAN PUTRA was born at Alor Star, capital of the Malay State of Kedah, on February 8, 1903.
ABDUL RAHMAN, nurtured in the autocratic atmosphere of an independent feudal court, was surrounded in his mother's three-storied palace, built in the style of a Chinese pagoda, by retainers who sank to their knees each time they approached a royal presence.
The TUNKU persuaded the MCA, strained as was the UMNO by violent differences between temperates and extremists on the citizenship issue, and the MIC to accept a provision to permit those born in Malaya of alien parents after independence to choose their nationality upon attaining 21.

Tunku Abdul Rahman Putra Al-Haj was born on Feb 8 1903 in Alor Star, Kedah.
His father, Sultan Abdul Hamid Halim Shah was the 24th Ruler of Kedah and his mother, Cik Menyalara, was daughter of Luang Naraborirak (Kleb), a Thai district officer during the reign of King Rama V. As a child, the little prince used to sneak out from the grounds of the palace.
Tunku Abdul Rahman passed away on Dec 6, 1990 at the age of 87 and was laid to rest at the Langgar Royal Mausoleum in Alor Star.
