Tuolumne Meadows is a gentle, dome-studded meadowy section of the Tuolumne River, in the eastern section of Yosemite National Park.
Tuolumne Meadows has a good view of the Cathedral Range (in the background of the image, looking south), Lembert Dome and Mount Dana (to the north).
In contrast to the big walls of Yosemite Valley, climbing at Tuolumne generally consists of short- to medium-length routes on eleven major domes and a number of minor ones, stretching from the Stately Pleasure Dome above Tenaya Lake to Lembert Dome on the east side of the Meadows.

Start: Park along the road to the Tuolumne Meadows Stables and follow the gravel road as it loops behind Soda Springs.
Begin across the road from Dog Lake parking area, where the trail heads upstream alongside the Dana Fork of the Tuolumne River, crosses it, and subsequently arrives at the Lyell Fork.
Ath the ridge, the trail drops 200 ft / 61 m to a lake and meadows, which can be explored with side trails (not included in the 2 mi / 3.2 km roundtrip length).

NOTE: from LA to Tuolumne, it is quicker to go via Bishop (6.5hrs), than to go through the Valley.
Here's a view of the meadows from the top of Lembert Dome, with Cathedral Peak on the L, Marioulumne Dome in the middle, and Fairview Dome being the rear, higher, of the 2 domes at centre R. Described E to W, based on where you need to park on the 120.
The quickest way would be to start at the E end of the carpark (ie the end farthest from the lake), and plunge straight into the bush heading directly for the peak.

This trail is also the gateway for overnight hikers who plan to travel beyond Glen Aulin deeper into the Grand Canyon of the Tuolumne toward Muir Gorge and Pate Valley or for those traveling north of Glen Aulin toward Cold Canyon and the high country canyons of the northeast portion of the park.
Overnight hikers will travel through meadows and forests with panoramic views of the Cathedral Range as they climb higher toward Young Lakes near the crest of the Sierra Nevada.

Tuolumne Meadows is about two thirds of the way down Tioga Pass towards Interstate 395.
The first leg, starting from the trailhead in Tuolumne Meadows to Glenn Aulin camp, I remember as being particularly beautiful.
We had seen the sign for the Glenn Aulin trailhead on the way through Tuolumne Meadows (on the east end), but spent about 45 minutes wandering around until we found that we should drive down a dirt road to park near the stables.
