Tupac Amaru Shakur was born in the East Harlem section of Manhattan in New York.
Mutulu was wanted in part for having aided his sister Assata Shakur, Tupac's godmother, to escape from prison in New Jersey, where she had been incarcerated for the murder and wounding of two state troopers in 1973.
Tupac was going to step back from rapping by releasing albums every five years or so on his new record label, Makaveli Records, which would have been distributed by Death Row Records.

The reason that director Lauren Lazin can cull together enough audio for Tupac to narrate his own documentary is that he was so open and vocal (and prolific, as the number of posthumous albums attest).
Tupac was a huge figure in the media because of his violent lyrics and his continual brushes with the law.
As Tupac became more popular, he branched into acting and began developing his code of "thug life." Later, he was a pivotal member in the East Coast/West Coast rap war, and signed onto controversial producer Suge Knight's Death Row Records label.

In the movie, when Tupac speaks of his upbringing and of the sorts of things he was interested in as a kid, you get a pretty clear window into the exact nature of his gifts.
Tupac explains how he was arrested for the first time, a story that's all too believable: The charge was jaywalking, but when he questioned the cops who had stopped him, they beat him up.
And it never addresses the problem that the more Tupac opens his mouth to explain what his music is or isn't about, and what role in society it is or isn't supposed to serve, the more obvious it becomes that his views aren't reflected in the actual music.

Tupac denounces three aspects of his life as negative—being raised without a father, battling an immense ego and prison life.
Tupac is often shown holding a blunt, and tells of allowing some guys into his hotel room just because they had marijuana.
While this docu-film's creators occasionally allow Tupac to be transparent and admit he had some flaws, they (his mother among them) obviously want him to be remembered as a misunderstood man who thought outside of the box and worked for the betterment of society.

Tupac lived the "Thug Life" as he called, (he explanes what it means in the film) and maybe that was his downfall....anyways, great film, lots of info, pictures and poetry.
Tupac Resurrection, then, is a movie that can be appreciated even by people who are not fans of Tupac or rap in general.

it doesnt conatain loads of text, but mainly moving quotes and speeches from tupac and some of the people who were close to him.
