The Tupolev Tu-26 (Backfire) is a Soviet four-seater variable-geometry operational/strategic bomber derived from the Tu-22 in an effort to overcome the Tu-22's poor range and indifferent supersonic performance, the process being analogous to that which saw the evolution of the variable-geometry Sukhoi Su-17 series from the fixed-geometry Su-7.
The Tupolev Tu-16 is armed with six 23 mm NR-23 cannons in a radar-directed manned tail-turret and remotely-aimed upper dorsal and rear ventral barbettes, and one 23 mm NR-23 cannon in the starboard side of the nose, and up to 9000 kg of disposable stores in a lower-fuselage weapons bay.
The Tupolev Tu-20 carried a crew of ten and was armed with six 23 mm cannons positioned in two remote-control and one radar-controlled positions and could carry up to 25000 lbs of bombs.

The Tupolev Tu-114 was a heavy aircraft, tipping the scales at just about 250,000 lbs in maximum take-off weight (about 45,000 lbs less than the Boeing 707-320), so this over-sized propeller driven FS aircraft requires an excessively long runway despite the enormous amount of power produced by it massive turbine engines.
During their production run (November 1957 to 1964), the Tupolev Design Bureau built 33 examples of the Tu-114, including the prototype which had the registration number of CCCP-L5611 and the name “Russia” splashed on its fuselage (there was also a ground test model built which is included in the total number of 33).

The Tupolev 114 was a long-range passenger airliner used by Aeroflot in the 1950s and early 1960s.
The first sustained scheduled jet airline service was by the (then) Soviet Union's Aeroflot airline using Tupolev Tu-104 'Camel' jets (developed from the Tu-16 'Badger' bomber) extensively on internal routes from the summer of 1955.
The first jet service across the North Atlantic was by a BOAC Comet 4 at the beginning of October 1958 with Pan American flying it's first jet service in competition with BOAC using a Boeing 707 three weeks later.

I've also heard or rather read several opinions claiming that IL-62s are remarkably reliable (although they had several accidents in 1970s and 1960s) and that they are better "in all respects" than the Tupolev Tu-154 which remains the workhorse of Russian airlines.
Because seating capacity of both IL-62 and Tu-154 is so similar (maximum 180 versus 168 PAX), I wonder why don't Russian carriers use IL-62 instead of Tu-154 on domestic routes.
