Lake Placid Mayor Roby Politi announced at a Village Board meeting Monday night that he had signed an agreement with the Village of Tupper Lake, the New York Power Authority and Niagara-Mohawk that will increase the flow of electricity to the two villages by installing a new power line from Newton Falls to Tupper Lake.
While Lake Placid became involved in the negotiations a little over a year ago, Strader and other officials in Tupper Lake had been engaged in talks with NiMo and lobbying Albany for some three years, desperately trying to come up with a solution.
That is especially good news for Tupper Lake, where the Natural History Museum of the Adirondacks and the Big Tupper ski area — two major development projects — are under way and expected to open within a few years.

A tour of Tupper Lake isn’t complete without paddling by the sheer 100-foot cliff of Devil’s Pulpit on Bluff Island or viewing the 30-foot Bog River Falls as it cascades into the lake beneath a historic stone arch bridge.
Clockwise from Tupper Lake on the north, the principal landmarks are nearby Litchfield (Goodman) Mountain, Coney's twin; Mount Morris (Big Tupper); the Sewards, the MacIntyres to the east, and Marcy; and Santanoni, Blue Mountain and several lakes and ponds to the west.
