Turiec (-Slovak, in Latin: Thurotzium, comitatus Thurociensis, in German: Turz, in Hungarian: Turóc) is the name of a historic administrative county (comitatus) of the Kingdom of Hungary.
Turiec county shared borders with the Hungarian counties Nyitra (Nitra), Trencsén (Trenčín), Árva (Orava), Liptó (Liptov), Zólyom (Zvolen) and Bars (Tekov).
In 1993, Czechoslovakia was split and Turiec became part of Slovakia.
