Turion 64 - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Turion 64 is the brand name AMD applies to its 64-bit low-power (mobile) processors.
Turion 64 and Turion 64 X2 processors compete with Intel's mobile processors, initially the Pentium M and currently both of the Intel Core processors.
Turion 64 processors (but not Turion 64 X2 processors) are compatible with AMD's Socket 754 and are equipped with 512 or 1024 KiB of L2 cache, a 64-bit single channel on-die memory controller, and an 800MHz HyperTransport bus.

AMD has done a good job of selling the Turion 64 as a notebook processor, so people tend to assume that it is less powerful and less interesting than the top-of-the-line Athlon 64 and X2 processors.
Turion 64 chips are built from low-voltage transistors that have less electrical leakage, and the layout of the chip has been optimized for low power, not high speed.
Turions are available only for Socket 754, which means they cannot take advantage of dual channel memory, which is the domain of Socket 939.

The "Turion" line will go head-to-head with the Pentium M processors from rival Intel Corp. However, AMD does not initially plan to market the Turion chips with the platform strategy Intel has adopted with its "Centrino" brand, where the Pentium M processor, chipset, and wireless module are often sold together.
AMD Turion™ 64 mobile technology was unveiled by six-time Tour de France winner Lance Armstrong at an AMD event at the International CES 2005 show in Las Vegas.
I doubt turion would have a 3700+, as I think that would just be too much heat; i think it would basically be in line with the mobile athlon64s and stop at 3400+; even then i wouldn't expect to see a 3400+ until late Q3 or Q4 2005 at the earliest.

 Intel's Pentium M 760 versus AMD's Turion 64 ML-44 - The Tech Report - Page 1
AMD's answer to the Pentium M is the Turion 64, an Athlon 64-based design which rides in a 754-pin socket.
Additionally, although Turion 64s bear more than a passing resemblance to the Socket 754 Athlon 64, the Turion can operate at significantly lower voltages relative to desktop chips, which cuts down significantly on power consumption.
Finally, AMD has segmented the Turion 64 into two model lines, one focusing on performance, the other on battery life.

All Turion 64 Models | Hardware Secrets   (Site not responding. Last check: 2007-10-05)
Turion 64 is based on Athlon 64’s architecture, and the main difference between Turion 64 and Athlon 64 Mobile is the power consumption, which is lower on Turion 64: Athlon 64 Mobile dissipates 65 W while Turion 64 dissipates only 35 W (ML models) or 25 W (MT models).
Another difference between them is the amount of L2 cache, which is always of 1 MB on Athlon 64 Mobile, while Turion 64 can have a L2 memory cache of 512 KB or 1 MB, depending on the model.
As mentioned, Turion 64 CPUs are available in two series: ML, which has a maximum power consumption (TDP, Thermal Design Power) of 35 W, and MT, which has a maximum power consumption of 25 W. The lower the power, the longer your notebook battery will last.

The Turion 64 Inside Story | MobilityGuru   (Site not responding. Last check: 2007-10-05)
A few months ago, AMD launched a high-performance but energy-saving processor as part of its Turion 64 offering, whose relatively low appetite for power makes it appear pre-destined for use in thinner, lighter notebooks.
AMD's so-called Turion 64 mobile technology differs enough from that of its competition that we'd like to name it an "open notebook platform" instead.
The success of the Turion 64, AMD's new, power-saving CPU for use in thin-and-light notebooks, is thus tightly tied to the success and perhaps even the outright survival of the few independent chipset and WLAN component vendors still in the notebook market.
