Blind Eyes ========== by John Farnham, David Hirschfelder and Ray Chapman Old lady in the street ain't here no more, got robbed last week at her own front door, no one saw her fall and no one heard her cry, everyone there just turned a blind eye.
Don't look left now don't look right, take another step back, don't see no sight, keep a straight face, lead a streetwise life, if you were there could you turn a blind eye.
Blind eyes are weak, blind eyes are cruel, look out for number one, survival's the rule, look straight ahead on a one-way street, let sleeping dogs lie, just turn a blind eye, (don't look left - don't look right) (let sleeping dongs lie - just turn a blind eye).

 Re: turn a blind eye
The Tsar was assassinated and his policy reversed by his successor, Alexander I, but before the momentous news had become known, Nelson, with a detachment of ships of the fleet of comparatively light draught, attacked and defeated the Danish fleet at the hard-fought battle of Copenhagen on 2 April 1801.
At a critical stage of the action, Hyde Parker signalled to the engaged portion of the fleet to break off the action, an order that Nelson refused even to see since, as he remarked, he had a blind eye and sometimes had a right to use it.
doesn't say that "turn a blind eye" was the exact phrase that Nelson used; or that, if it was, he invented it; or that, whether he used it or not, it became popular after his remark was publicized.

It's that blindness to the real origin of the problem that makes us think that if we just calmly and sincerely express ourselves and our concern, the N will realise that we are not at all the scum that they make us out to be.
The difference is that now I'm not so blind as to the origin of the problem, but as you say, it won't make the slightest bit of difference because that origin is Narcissism and the blindness is theirs.

Donmeh West - A Critical Re-Assessment of Sabbatai Zevi
Upon his conversion to Islam, Sabbatai is given the Arabic name, Aziz Mehemet (i.e., "Power of Muhammad") and is appointed to the honorary royal office of Kapici Bashi, or "Keeper of the Gate," a title strikingly similar to that of the Imam in Sufi, "Gate of God." (Ibid, Gershom Scholem)
Although nominally a Muslim, Sabbatai openly continues his messianic posturing as a Jew under the very nose of the Sultan of Turkey who had only recently threatened to execute him for doing the same, but now seems to turn a blind eye to it.
However, for some reason (possibly that Sabbatai had failed in his undercover mission to the Bektashi) the Sultan can no longer seem to ignore Sabbatai's activities, but rather than executing him as one would expect, banishes him to Dulcigno where Sabbatai continues in his Jewish-Messianic activities.
