Based on the successful high school figure skating event model currently used in 3 school districts in Eastern Ontario and Quebec since 2001, this invitational is a team competition, in which skaters compete in individual and team events, earning team points that will determine an overall high school team winner.
Schools will field a team of minimum 2 to a maximum of 12 figure skaters currently enrolled as full-time students from Grades 9 - 12, who are members of a local Skate Canada club.

From the beginning of the school year last September, up until last Monday, for example, there were 113 "incidents" at the school requiring police attention, and 41 "occurrences" -- "occurrences" meaning an official police report had to be written up.

The incident happened around 3 p.m. near Turner Fenton Secondary School, in the Kennedy Road S. and Steeles Avenue E. area, Peel Regional Police said in a press release.
Students returning to school Tuesday told CTV Toronto that the incident was sparked by a dispute between rival gangs.  Police, however, would not confirm if it was a gang incident.
