Turok: Dinosaur Hunter - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Turok: Dinosaur Hunter is a first-person shooter video game for the Nintendo 64 game console and for Microsoft Windows on the PC.
When first released for the PC, Turok: Dinosaur Hunter was one the first games to implement some of the cutting-edge computer graphics technologies of the time, including realistic water and distance fog.
Turok: Dinosaur Hunter is also a bloody game, where creatures die violently, with blood spraying out of their neck and head, when killed.

To be Turok -- in the Saquin Nation language -- is to be a Son of Stone -- a protector of Earth.
Turok's flashy stuff notwithstanding, it is the game's incredibly rich and complex level construction and enemy AI that will keep your heart pounding and the sweat beading until the very end.
Turok has some good points (namely the graphics and weapons) and some bad points (confusing level design and overuse of fog), but the overall game is still fun to play.

The introduction of Turok 3 has put the frame rate in a bit of a midpoint where it isn’t exactly 30 frames per second smooth as was originally stated, but it never reaches the slide-show point of Turok 2.
Turok 3 expands upon the multiplayer aspect with the inclusion of eight different kinds of multiplayer, including Bloodlust, Capture the Flag, Last Stand, Golden Arrow, Monkey Tag, Arsenal of War, Color Tag and Weapons Master.
Turok 3 might not have the deathmatch customization that Rare’s Perfect Dark has, but there’s enough variety that any first person shooter buff should be more than satisfied.

Don Markstein's Toonopedia: Turok, Son of Stone
The most famous of these Dell Comics originals was Pogo, but the one that lasted longest as a Dell title was Turok, Son of Stone.
Turok first appeared in Four Color Comics (the catch-all Dell comic that published everything from Woody Woodpecker to Kona, Monarch of Monster Isle) #596 (December, 1954).
First as a quarterly, then bimonthly, the Turok, Son of Stone title chronicled dozens of adventures Turok and Andar had with dinosaurs, primitive cave men and other anachronisms, for the rest of the 1950s, and beyond.

Tal'Set is rescued by the indigenous people of this primitive world, and from the seer Tarkeen he learns that he is Turok, the legendary Son of Stone sent to battle the villainous reptilian Sleg and their master, Lord Tyrannus.
As in past games, the storyline in Turok: Evolution is passable, but nobody really plays first-person shooters for their stories, anyway, and the plot here serves mainly as an excuse to frag some dinosaurs.
The original Turok game's subtitle, "Dinosaur Hunter," may be consistent with the license's comic-book roots, but in Evolution, you won't be battling as many of the massive beasts as you might hope.
