The pulse counts from the control panel of the Geiger counter were taken to a Harwell 2000 series ratemeter whose output was chart-recorded.
When the time constant is set at one second, pulse counts appear as small individual "noise" peaks on the chart, provided that their rate is sufficiently slow.
Twenty minutes of constant background radiation were followed by a test pulse from the radioactive source, then by a further ten minutes of constant background radiation.

Twenty second pulse - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
A twenty second pulse is a pulse signal in the VLF range between 17 kHz and 18 kHz with a duration of 20 seconds.
Twenty second pulses occur in wintertime more frequently than in summer.
The pulses are generated by heating burners switching on and off.

Patent 4142156: Control signal apparatus for CATV system
Counting means count the first pulses of the set and if the count at the time the second pulse is received agrees with a count assigned to the remote station an indication is given.
The first and second pulses which are preferably packets or bursts of first and second frequency signals are fed via cable 14 to each of the remote stations 16A to 16N.
At the end of the second pulse the counter 62 is cleared to its initialized state by a signal from multivibrator 70 which is triggered by the trailing edge of such pulse.

In the first pulse stuffing circuit 221, pulse stuffing is carried out on the first input digital signal by the use of a sequence of internal clock pulses having an internal bit rate fs greater than the nominal bit rate fo.
Likewise, the second through the sixth subgroups of the first and the second incoming groups A and B are delivered to the second through the sixth switch units 412 to 416, respectively.
The clock pulse cp is also applied to a first clock generating circuit 74 which generates a burst clock signal bc from the clock pulse signal cp under control of the first pulse signal p1.

Where in any individual the first of these impulses is stronger than usual, a complete academic training is a gain; but where the second of these impulses is the dominant one, the effect of the academic habit upon the mind at its most sensitive and most plastic period is apt to be crippling.
A second series of poems, which contained, however, only two new ones, was published in 1855.

 Pulse Induction
This entails transmitting a single pulse, and then rapidly switching the coil to a very sensitive receive circuit, which then "listens" for the decaying eddy current induced during the transmitted pulse.
However, the receiver must be protected from overloading by the sudden switch over as the field in the transmitter coil is collapsing, thus a point for 'sampling' needs to be chosen such that it occurs after the collapse of the transmitter field, yet before the decay of the signal from the object.
In cases of severe interference, the second sampling can be brought forward, closer to the first sample pulse, but if the pulse is brought too near, then the second sampling will include part of the signal pulse, and thus reduce the effective sensitivity of the system.

Split pulses speed signals TRN 070401
The difference in length results in a rapid fire of 20 distinct pulses as they come out the other side, to the second flat glass slab, which passes on the 20-pulse train to all of the output guides.
In order to make the device work, the researchers had to start with an input pulse with a width, or duration, that was shorter than the delay resulting from the difference in length from one curved guide to the next.
It would take 317 years to transmit at a speed of one pulse per second the amount of information it takes a 10 gigahertz channel to transmit in one second, and 31,710 years to transmit at a speed of one pulse per second the information that goes through a one terahertz channel in one second.

Very large pressure pulses were recorded by the surface transducers, with typical magnitudes as large as 10bar and durations of the order of 10−4s.
For example, the large impulsive surface loadings due to these pulses could be responsible for the foil damage reported by Morgan (21), who observed propeller blade trailing edges bent away from the suction surface and toward the pressure surface.
At this instant a very large, positive pressure pulse is radiated away from the cloud into the far-field; all the earlier or later radiated noise is almost insignificant by comparison.

Two distinct types of pressure pulse were identified from high-speed films: “local pulses” which are registered by individual transducers and appear to be associated with the propagation of localized bubbly shocks and “global pulses” which result from larger scale, coherent collapses of bubble clouds.
As with the first type of local pulse, this second type is observed during a transition from a region of high void fraction to a region of low void fraction.
The pressure pulse increases in amplitude as the shock propagates inwards and is focussed geometrically.

Virtually simultaneously with the initial nuclear radiation, in a second destructive effect of the explosion, an electromagnetic pulse is generated by the intense gamma radiation acting on the air.
The second of the global effects that have been discovered so far is the lofting, from ground bursts, of millions of tons of dust into the stratosphere; this is likely to produce general cooling of the earth's surface.
One example is the electromagnetic pulse, whose importance was not recognized until around 1960, when, after more than a decade of tests, scientists realized that this effect accounted for unexpected electrical failures that had been occurring all along in equipment around the test sites.

Pulse Rifle: EM Accelerator - American Antigravity
The EM pulse rifle is one of many related designs based on the idea of accelerating a projectile to high-velocities using electromagnetic energy.
Unlike a railgun, which requires high input-energy and is based on a Lorentz-force rail-accelerator, the Pulse Rifle utilizes an inductive acceleration on a non-magnetic projectile.
The brief but powerful magnetic pulse generates an inductive-current in the ring, which then accelerates down the barrel at high speed.
