  Twin Peaks
Twin Peaks also foreshadowed some of the serial killer cinema successes of the 1990s, such as Se7en and the Hannibal Lector series, with the initial examination of Laura’s body revealing a tiny typed letter ‘R’; inserted under her fingernail; a calling card of a serial killer.
In Twin Peaks, specifically the first series, Lynch tried to keep the surrealistic invasion to a minimum, but by the time of the movie, such control was clearly no longer applied – thus leaving his audiences once again on occasion utterly confused.
When she wins the Miss Twin Peaks contest, Windom Earle kidnaps her and takes her to the Black Lodge, the mystical extra-dimensional place in the woods that Bob happens to inhabit and of which the Red Room is apparently a part.

Amazon.co.uk: Twin Peaks: Complete Season 1 [1990]: Twin Peaks: DVD
It is now about 12 years since "Twin Peaks" first hit our TV screens, and today it manages the strange feat of seeming to be, on the one hand, a classic of its time, and on the other hand, a still relevant and timeless piece of work.
Twin Peaks is sensibly paced, never rushing into anything, but slowly allowing the story to expand (rather than unraval) and introducing new twists at every turn.
Twin Peaks was, and remains, an artistic masterpiece and an example to follow.

 notcoming.com | A Guide to Twin Peaks
Twin Peaks single-handedly enabled this ill-renowned genre to branch out of the temporary mainstream and into the arena of art.
But as much as it plays on cinema history, Twin Peaks is a show in love with the traditions and limitations of the small screen, from Peyton Place to Dallas and Dynasty (both of which are lovingly parodied in Twin Peaks’ show-within-a-show, Invitation To Love), via The Twilight Zone and Dragnet.
And although the artistic impact of Twin Peaks may have been regrettably short lived – as evidenced by the failure of Mulholland Drive – its cultural iteration is at no risk of decelerating.

 Twin Peaks
Twin Peaks combined the strengths of both Frost and Lynch, featuring an extended cast of characters occupying a world not far removed from the sinister small town Lynch had explored in Blue Velvet.
Freed from some of the constraints of network standards and practices, Lynch's cinematic treatment of Twin Peaks was an even more violent, disturbing, and obsessive reading of the mythical community, and provided an interesting commentary and counter-point to the series as a whole.

One mechanism on which some electrical theorists have speculated is the possibility that these elevated peaks became "lightning rods" for secondary strokes carving out craters on their summits.
Though he does not rule out the principle of a secondary discharge, he notes that many central peaks are not symmetrical, and that non-symmetry would give rise to misshapen arc-erosion of the central peak, rather than the neatly central hollows we see.
Thornhill envisions twin Birkeland filaments rotating "like a corkscrew about a center." Given this symmetry, the blast effects from the twin arcs will tend to cancel at the center, leaving a central spire relatively unscathed.
