Twin Towers 2 - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Twin Towers 2, now renamed WTC Towers Memorial [1] [2], is a design by structural engineer Kenneth Gardner and architect Herbert Belton (deceased) to rebuild New York City's World Trade Center site, which was destroyed by the September 11, 2001 terrorist attacks.
The WTC Towers Memorial plan is preferred by the majority of victims' families and has been preferred in all public opinion polls.
Other WTC Towers Memorial supporters are driven by a desire to rebuild what they see as an iconic symbol of New York and America in recognizable form, and to demonstrate resiliency and the futility of terrorist attacks.

WTC 2 (the south tower) was nearly as tall, with a roof height of 1,362 feet.
The fact that the towers collapsed in about 10 seconds is a statement that the upper portion of each of the towers passed through the lower portion at about the same rate that it would have fallen through air.
The ability of the two towers to withstand aircraft impacts without immediate collapse was a direct function of their design and construction characteristics, as was the vulnerability of the two towers to collapse a result of the combined effects of the impacts and ensuing fires.
