Swansea, "the graveyard of ambition," as local hero Dylan Thomas called the now-moribund port town, is the setting for Twin Town, director Kevin Allen's story of South Wales' answer to Heckyl and Jeckyl, Julian (Llyr Evans) and Jeremy (Rhys Ifans).
The spirited disgustingness of Twin Town does keep you watching, and the film is most enjoyable when it most resembles Pink Flamingos.

Town twinning - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Town twinning or sister cities is a concept whereby towns or cities from geographically and politically distinct areas are paired, with the goal of fostering human contact and cultural links.
In Europe, such pairs of towns are known as twin towns, friendship towns or, in German, partner towns (Partnerstädte); in North America and Australasia, the term sister cities is used for the same concept; and brother cities (города-побратимы) is the term in the former Soviet bloc.
The earliest form of town twinning in Europe was between the German city of Paderborn and the French city of Le Mans in 836, although this was not officially established as a modern town twinning arrangement until 1967.

The town was initially much the same as any small prospecting settlement, but as word spread, people flocked to the area from all other regions of the country as well as from North America, the United Kingdom, and the rest of Europe.
Furthermore, the municipal boundaries were expanded to include wealthy satellite towns like Sandton and Randburg, poorer neighbouring townships such as Soweto and Alexandra, and informal settlements like Orange Farm.
Johannesburg is not generally known as a tourist destination, but the city is a transit point for connecting flights to Cape Town, Durban, and the Kruger National Park, and does host touristic attractions in and around the city, and is geographically close to rural game lodges and similar tourist attractions.
