Tyne Tees has the distinction of being the first regional company to be criticised by the ITA - and with good reason.
The modern Tyne Tees is, by all accounts, quite vibrant behind the scenes, playing host to Granada Interactive, the internet and multimedia operation of its parent - Granada’s big hope for the future it plans against, when ITV becomes forgotten and irrelevant thanks to dozens of similar digital entertainment channels.
At some point, someone at the then-independent Tyne Tees got bored with the 1989 ITV style, and this ident (using the same music) was born to replace it.

Tyne Tees' remake was this, known as the "Flowing Rivers", and with its first computer animated logo, it was a nice effort.
Tyne Tees graphics department also made a re-edit of this ident, where the animation for this ident is run backwards forming a dark blue Tyne Tees logo.
Tyne Tees' keenness to play itself as part of ITV was forthcoming in these idents, which used the ITV jingle in full, and visually a very similar look to the Generic ident.

This was the logo used by Tyne Tees, from its launch night in 1959, until the advent of colour in 1969.

On January 4th, 1958, the region learnt more about its new television station when the national as well as North East newspapers reported that the first meeting had taken place in Newcastle of the directors of 'the new company which is to provide commercial television in the North East'.
At 7 pm Tyne Tees' own one-hour entertainment show The Big Show was transmitted LIVE from Studio One hosted by Jimmy James, standing in for Dickie Henderson who had gone down with 'flu.
