  History of Tynemouth Lifeboat
Tynemouth Lifeboat Henry Vernon was one of the institution’s first experimental motor lifeboats.
Built in 1905 it was placed under the supervision of Lieutenant H E Burton RE, afterwards Major Burton, holder of the Institution's Gold (Rohilla case) and Silver Medals and the George Cross.
On 16 September 1962 the Duchess of Northumberland unveiled a stained glass window in the Seamen's Chapel of Christ Church, North Shields, to commemorate the Centenary of the Tynemouth lifeboat station.

"TYNEMOUTH parish is bounded on the north and west by the parishes of Earsdon, Long Benton, and Wallsend, on the south by the river Tyne, and on the east by the German Ocean.
It comprises the townships of Chirton, Cullercoats, Murton or Moortown, North Shields, Preston, Tynemouth, and Whitley, whose united area is 7,222 statute acres.
On 31st December 1853 a commission was established to inquire "into the causes which have led to, or have aggravated, the late outbreak of Cholera in the towns of Newcastle-upon-Tyne, Gateshead and Tynemouth." And on 15th July 1854 the commission presented this report.

The Correction House next to the Tynemouth Lodge Hotel is one of just a few left standing, and was made into a Grade II listed building in 1999, and although there have been some modern extensions added to the building, the old structure is still intact.

 1st Volunteer Artillery (Tynemouth) Association
The Tynemouth Volunteer Artillery Association was first founded on Armistice Day 1959, by serving members of 439 Regt and ex members of 404 (Coast Artillery) Regt and 64 (HAA) Regt to commemorate the 100th Anniversary of the formation of the first volunteer artillery unit in the British Army.
Visiting the Tyne at this time was Captain Bodford Pim RN and in an address to the population of North Shields, pointed out that an enemy gun-boat could cause untold damage to the town without the loss of a single man, due to the poor state of the defences.
In the early stages the unit did have close links with Tynemouth Castle, as it was a major artillery depot and had the guns for the volunteers to practice with, it was from this liaison that the change to coastal gunnery developed.
