	Type 98
		The Type 98 main battle tank is the new standard tank in use by the Chinese People's Liberation Army.
		The Type 98, also known as the WZ-123 MBT, is based on the Russian T-72 and even features a hull design similar to the Russian tank.
		The Type 98 program is believed to have begun sometime in the early 1990s as the Chinese explored design changes to the Type 90-II.

		It was the first tank developed from the start with a "systems approach;" that is, it was intended to have components replaced and upgraded.
		Despite these advances the Type 90 was not accepted by the PLA due to a poor diesel engine, but it was a succesful production license export to Pakistan.
