The U.S. Air Force Thunderbirds, which last performed in Cleveland in 2002, were on an international goodwill tour to Japan, Korea and Guam for most of September.
The U.S. Air Force Thunderbirds perform in their sleek F-16s along with a flying demonstration of the RAF's Nimrod.
During one performance the F-14 Tomcat was forced to land early when one afterburner was stuck in the "on" position (the engine was shut down and the aircraft landed safely).

The aircraft, from the 379th Air Expeditionary Wing at McChord Air Force Base, Wash., flew in approximately 50 tons of food and shelter equipment as part of the Pakistan earthquake relief effort.
The Air Force is delivering disaster relief supplies and services as part of a multinational effort to provide aid and support to Pakistan and parts of India and Afghanistan following a devastating earthquake.

NELLIS AIR FORCE BASE, Nev., June 17, 2005 — U.S. Air Force Air Demonstration Squadron, “Thunderbirds,” officials announced their new pilots for the 2006 demonstration season which includes the first female demonstration pilot in the 52-year history of the Thunderbirds.
The U.S. Air Force Air Demonstration Squadron is an Air Combat Command unit comprising eight pilots, six of whom are demonstration pilots; four support officers; four civilians; and about 120 enlisted Airmen in more than 29 career specialties.
Kevin Robbins, from the Air Force Weapons School at Nellis Air Force Base, Nev., and Capt. Ed Casey, of the 56th Training Squadron at Luke AFB, Ariz., also were selected for two of the demonstration pilot spots.

The Indian Springs Air Force Auxiliary Air Field is scheduled to be renamed Monday for Gen. Wilbur L. "Bill" Creech, who retired in 1984 and died in 2003, the Air Force said.

Creech, a former Thunderbird pilot of the 1950s, also was known as "The Father of the Thunderbirds" for rescuing the Air Force's Aerial Demonstration Team from a congressional chopping block after four of its pilots were killed on Jan. 18, 1982, near Indian Springs while on a training exercise.

Nellis is the home of the world­renowned Thunderbirds designated by the Air Force as the USAF Air Demonstration Squadron.
This group is the busiest in the combat air forces, generating more than 17,000 diverse sorties annually, hosting hundreds of visiting units and providing approximately 45 percent of the live munitions expended within ACC.
